Pop it Ups Wednesday with Sandy – Bonjour

May 11, 2016

Bonjour my friends, it’s Sandy Diller here. We have a trip planned to Paris this summer so I wanted to share a little of my excitement with you by showing how I made this Eiffel Tower Pop Stand Card. Part of the fun of this card is that you can see the inside of the card through the window but you really don’t get the full effect until it is opened.

One of the many great things about Pop it Ups is that the entire line is designed to work together. I have used the complete Eiffel Tower Set as well as bits and pieces of several different die and stamp sets to make this card.

  1.  Cut 2 pieces of paper for the base, one 5″ X 7.5″ and one 5″ X 10″.

2.  Using the Eiffel Tower Die Set cut 2 towers and one set of decorator pieces.  On one tower only, before removing paper from die, emboss using the embossing sandwich for your machine.  This will be the front piece.

3.  Using the Just a Note Clear Stamps, stamp out “Bonjour” and  “Enjoy you day”.  Then cut with the small oval and small label from the Katie Label Pivot Card.

4.  Cut one rectangle 5″ X 2.5″ from same paper as card base, not shown.

5.  From coordinating paper cut another small oval from the Katie Label Pivot Card.

6.  From coordinating paper cut one heart from the Accordion Rectangle and one from the Oval Pull Card.  Three flowers from the Props 7 Set.

7.  Using the Fitted Ovals, cut two ovals by nesting two dies together.  Size may vary depending on the size of your card.

8.  Crease top of longer paper strip at 3″ from top and then trim end using Agatha Edge Die.

9.  Crease shorter strip at 1/2″ from bottom and trim corners at an angle on edges – as shown above.  Add ECD Clear Double Sided Adhesive to inside of flap.

10.  After making sure the pieces fit together with the trimmed edge making a flap over the front, remove lining from adhesive and attach two strips together.

11.  Using the rectangle, crease in half horizontally as shown above.  Place Pop Stand Die on rectangle, lining up the nibs with the fold.  Run through die cutting machine – results shown on center photo.

12.  Cut rectangle in half on the crease.   Attach to card base with each piece close to center fold but not covering it.  Be sure not to get glue on tabs.  See third photo above and below.

13.  Attach embossed tower to tabs.  Tower should be face down on front of card. This step is done now so the window can be lined up with the edges as well as the tower.

14.  Aline oval so it is centered and that the tower will show through window.  Using repositional tape to hold oval in place run through machine stopping before you come to the tower then run out in opposite direction.

15.  Assemble the rest of the tower by adding second piece to back of first and then attach to back tabs.

16.  Pink rein stones were added to trim pieces and attached.  Add heart to tower.

17.  After a couple of failed attempts, I learned that the easiest way to make your window is to add the oval trim piece to some acetate, I used packaging, and then cut out by hand.  Attach window to inside of card.   Add other oval trim piece to outside of card.

18.  Add words and flowers.

19.  A small magnet was used here to keep card in closed position,  one on the inside of flap and one on back of card that was covered with a pink heart.

20.  Since there is not a good space inside for a message, a plain panel of manila cardstock was placed on the back.
