Easy Lotus Card using Elizabeth Craft Designs Products

April 13, 2014

Hi, it’s Kelly Booth here to show you a simple and fun way to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel-offs and Shimmer Sheetz along with one of the new embossing folders for a Simple A2 card. I love the outline Peel-offs. They are so much fun to watercolor! I was inspired to make this card after coloring the beautiful Lotus Flower.

  1. Place one lotus flower and one bud on watercolor paper.
  2. Color with water-based markers. Use a water brush for blending the colors. (Option: Use watercolor pencils if you prefer)
  3. Fussy cut around the flowers.
  4. Cut white cardstock to 11” x 4.25” and fold in half to make an A2 top-fold card base. For the background cut a piece of Amethyst Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz 3.75” x 5”.
  5. Emboss Shimmer Sheetz with pattern shown (Trendy Tiles 2) or any allover repeat pattern. With a sanding block, lightly sand to reveal the silver core and create a 2-tone effect. Wipe with damp paper towel to remove the “dust”.
  6. Using the largest oval die and stitched line insert from the Accordion Oval Card set, die cut and emboss an oval from White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.
  7. Assemble card: Using double-sided adhesive sheet, adhere embossed Shimmer Sheetz to the card base. Using foam tape to add dimension, adhere the oval.
  8. Using more foam tape, adhere the flower and bud as shown in photo (stem of bud tucked behind the leaf).
  9. Die cut Thank You from cardstock covered with foil tape and adhere at bottom right. Add extra sparkle with Glitter Borders Peel-offs around the Shimmer Sheetz rectangle.

Have you tried the Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Peel-offs, Watercolor Paper and Shimmer Sheetz together? A perfect match – I’m so pleased with the results!

Hope you have a great day,

I’m new to this site and I wanted to tell you this lotus card is beautiful. You used Tombow markers? Do you recall what colors? Thanks.

Hi Cindy, I now try and list the colors but on that one I did not. I believe it was Purple/Blue 606 and Blue 476 for the flower and leaves were 098 and 177. Thank you 🙂

By chance…did you mean cut 11.5 x 4.25 cardstock to make top fold A2 card? Trendy Tiles 2 EF with sanded Amethyst Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz is pretty. Wish I saw this last to make a card for yesterday’s party for friend who loves Lotus and Ladybugs. 🙂

I changed it….Thank you so much for noticing and your comment. 🙂

      FYI….actually, the dimensions for a top fold A2 card is 4 1/4′ x 11”, not 11 1/2″.

The color combination on your card is so rich and elegant. And it is well-named: EASY! The little details – like sanding the Shimmer Sheetz and adding the sparkly border – really make it special, Kelly.
