One Thing Leads to Another – Part 1 By Judi Kauffman

August 30, 2014

Judi Kauffman is back as today’s guest designer. We hope you enjoy her projects and ideas!

Thanks for inviting me to be part of the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today, Joset.

I thought it would be fun to combine elements from my Pastel Challenge (7-27-2014) and The Color Purple (blog post for 8-10-2014) but almost immediately things began to change direction.

Instead of pastels, I found that the cards were getting bolder and bolder and lots of bright green and red were sneaking in. When I spied a sheet of outline peel-offs with bunches of grapes, vines and leaves, all of a sudden there was an even bigger shift: I needed fall colors! Chocolate, burnt umber, cordovan, deep wine red, maroon, moss, olive and puce green pens took over. I was done with pink.

It may still be summer as I write these words, but my mind is on the way to Thanksgiving dinner and some leaf peeping in Vermont.

It’s your turn!

Dip into your collection of outline peel-offs or order some of the ones I used. Stick to a palette identical to mine, or combine any colors you prefer. Make a plan and then give yourself permission to alter it again and again.

See what happens when One Thing Leads to Another. Project instructions, a supply list, and more photos will be in Part 2 – Please come back to the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on September 1st!

    I love the layered stickers!

Thanks, Candy. A detour – a TIP for any beginners who are reading this thread of comments: What makes it easy to layer stickers like that (so the words line up to look like shadows) is to use the Sticker Transfer Sheet!

Fun cards Judi, but my favourite are the fall coloured ones. Love your doodling!
    Cheers

Thanks, Karen. During the years when I was a graphic artist I was also a cartoonist and illustrator – my doodling is very much connected to that part of my life (drawing, but whittled down to minimal details).

Thank you both – I love those grape peel-offs. Putting in the little doodles and dots is so much fun. I color with flat colors – no shading – and then get out the Pigma Micron 01 pen in black and the Gelly Roll Medium pen in white and off I go!
