Elizabeth Craft Designs March Designers Challenge – Flower Power

March 31, 2015

Welcome to our March Designers’ Challenge. This month’s theme is Flower Power. With the start of spring, we thought the theme would be just perfect. Flowers make us all happy and there are so many varieties and such a wide array of beautiful colors. We hope these eight projects will make you happy, too, and inspire you to create some flowers at your craft table. Don’t forget to check out our Flower Power PRIZE GIVEAWAY! (Details are at the end of this blog post.)

Our first project for today’s challenge is this beautiful Rectangle Pull Card by Frances Byrne featuring the Victorian Flowers. She die cut the solid flowers from Shimmer Sheetz and the flower overlays from cardstock and added some Silk Microfine Glitter. For the leaves she used the Big Triple Leaf die and for the sentiment one of Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s beautiful stamps, No Winter Lasts Forever. For instructions, visit Frances’s blog HERE.

Raquel Mason created a flower Stand Up Helper card using one of the Stand Up Helper dies from Stand Up Helpers Set 1. She decorated the card using the Daisy, the Small Butterfly and the Ladybug. For the tag she used the basic tag shape die from Tags & More 7 – Vine. Love this cute card by Raquel. Visit her blog HERE for more info and instructions.

Next project is from Marsha Valk who created this fun Flower Power Birdhouse Hanger. For the flowers and leaves she used Bunch of Flowers 1 and the Triple Leaf Set cut from felt. The roof of the birdhouse is Shimmer Sheetz embossed and lightly sanded. For the body of the butterfly she used Shimmer Sheetz as well and the butterfly silhouette is cut from white cardstock. A beautiful hanger like this will sure brighten up your house! For full instructions and supply list, visit Marsha’s blog HERE.

Another stunning project to decorate your home! Angela Beavers created a beautiful wall hanger using Tags & More 8 – Lattice, Victorian Flower Set 1, Hardware 1 Hinges, and Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s stamp called “Let us be grateful.” The tiny flowers are from the Garden Notes – Hydrangea; they give the tag even more detail. Love how the different dies are used. Find instructions on Angela’s blog HERE.

Debra Hensley created this beautiful card featuring the Garden Notes Hydrangea. The vase is cut from White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz using our Asian Vase die, embossed with the Lots of Dots folder. The pattern paper she picked perfectly matches the soft colors of the hydrangea. To finish the card she added some Gold Borders Peel-offs for the border lines and the corners. It’s a beautiful card that can be used for many occasions. For more info, visit Debra’s blog HERE.

To see what these ingredients are, visit Judi’s blog post for instructions and supply list HERE.

Candy Spiegel created this bright colorful Get Well Soon card using the solid Victorian Flowers from Victorian Flower Set 1, Victorian Flower Overlay Set 2 and Bunch of Flowers Set 1. She created stencils using the solid dies for the dark pink flowers in the background. For the light pink flowers she used Shimmer Sheetz and Velvet Adhesive Sheets. See more HERE.

    these projects are beautiful

  • Reply Lesley RG March 31, 2015 at 7:23 pm

I admire all your creations and love making flower cards myself.
How can I choose a favourite flower?
My Mom’s favourite was the herald of spring – the daffodil; the scent from the daphne is gloriously heady; the hellebore is delightful, but hangs her head; the camellia is perfection, but has no scent; the hydrangea is beautifully and blowsy. All in all I think, even though it has no scent, it must be the enormous deepest darkest blue trumpet on the diminutive and delicate alpine gentian.
    Happy Days
