Thank you for inviting me back as today’s guest designer. This time, my projects are inspired by thoughts of spring.
I created an Earring Quartet: Three pairs announce the season with brightly colored single-, double-, and triple-layer flowers. The fourth pair has a more sophisticated, minimalist look and uses pairs of small leftover shapes to create two-layer, flat, jewel-tone accents. (Those small shapes were cut from the larger Droplet shapes when making the open-center earrings.)
The more jewelry I make with Shimmer Sheetz and the Elizabeth Craft Designs Jewelry Die sets the more fun I have and the more ideas I get!
Rather than repeating instructions that have already been posted, if you are new to Shimmer Sheetz jewelry, please refer back to blog posts on January 31, February 2 and 15, and March 1, 2015, for the how-to techniques for preparing, die cutting, alcohol ink altering, de-bossing or embossing and sanding Shimmer Sheetz jewelry shapes.
This blog post falls into the FYI category – For Your Inspiration! Use the photos to kick start your own jewelry projects. Here are more options:
**Pick any all over pattern embossing folder (I chose Gingko, shapes are de-bossed).
**Choose your favorite Shimmer Sheetz colors and Jewelry Die set (I picked Droplets).
**Include any small scale flowers (1, 2, or 3 layers); mix and match (see supply list).
**Instead of centering a single flower, create a cluster of three and position them as an asymmetrical triangle.
**Make a matching pendant or charm necklace.
**Skip the Droplets shapes, simply add flowers to a glittered watch band or painted DIY Bangle.
The earring quartet uses a product called Lumiere 3D Metallic Paint & Adhesive as follows:
1. As an adhesive between the layers in all of the embellishments (flowers as well as small flat shapes), securing all pieces to the already altered, embossed, and sanded Droplets.
2. To hold the pearls and as dimensional accents around them (earrings with 1- and 2-layer Ruby Gemstone flowers).
3. As an adhesive to secure the micro beads in the center of the 3-layer Yellow Iridescent/Peridot and Ruby Gemstone flowers. Squeeze out a little bit of 3D Paint & Adhesive in the center of the flower, using a color that matches the micro beads. Pour on the beads, let the 3D Paint & Adhesive dry and tap off the excess beads. TIP: Allow the layered flower to dry for several hours before working on the micro bead and paint centers – this way the flowers won’t budge while you’re doing this last step.
TIP: Make your earrings at least a day before wearing them to ensure that the 3D Paint & Adhesive is thoroughly dry.
