Hi everyone,

It’s Frances Byrne here. For my project today I created a tag shaped card using the Tags & More – Lattice die set and the Kitchen Time Peel-Off Stickers.

Here’s how I created my card:

1.  Cut a piece of red card so it measures approx 6 1/2 inches x 9 inches (we will be cutting this down so it doesn’t need to be exact). Fold the card in half so it measures 4 1/2 inches x 6 1/2 inches.

  •  Position the main tag die from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set so that the left side of the die is beyond the fold line so it doesn’t cut the fold when die cut. Hold in place with some low tack tape and run through your die cutting machine.
  •  Use your trimmer to trim down the right hand side of the card so the edge is level with the part of the tag which was cut by the die.

  • Cut a piece of red gingham designer paper that is approx 6 1/2 inches x 4 1/2 inches. Position the main tag die from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set at the top of the designer paper and run through your die cutting machine.
  • Use your trimmer to trim down the right & left hand side of the tag so the edge is level with the part of the tag which was cut by the die.
  • Place the decorative overlay die from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set so the hole in the overlay lines up with the hole in the tag and the tag shape of the card. Run this through your die cutting machine.
  • Adhere the red gingham designer paper shaped tag to the front of the fold red tag card.
  • Trim the bottom of the tag card so it measures 6 inches.

2. Use the decorative overlay from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set and die cut from brown card.  Take 6 of the brown diamonds  (the negative pieces) and adhere these over the red diamonds at the top of the card. Refer to photo of card for placement.

  • Die cut a square shape reinforcement from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set from brown card and adhere this over the hole on the front of the tag so that it looks like a diamond.

3. Cut a piece of designer paper that measures 4 1/4 inches x 2 1/2 inches.

  • Use the border die from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set and die cut a border from brown card. Adhere this to the bottom of the designer paper.
  • Cut another piece of brown card 1 inch x 4 1/4 inches and adhere this to the top of the designer paper.
  • Use the Birthday Wishes Stand Up Helper Word die and die cut from brown card. Attach the words to the top right hand side of the brown border at the top of the designer paper so that the top of the border lines up with the bottom of the words.
  • Adhere this panel to the folded red tag card as per photo above.

4. Creating the Peel-Off Sticker images:

a.  Before reading the instructions below, you can see a video Els created using this technique here.

b.  Place a sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive onto cardstock that is big enough for your peel-offs and remove the release sheet.

c.  Be careful not to touch the adhesive or it will leave fingerprints in the glitter.

d.  From the Kitchen Time Peel-Offs, place the apron, whisk, spatula, bowl and cupcake onto the release sheet (sticky side up).

e. Place the cardstock that has Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive, sticky side down, on top of the peel-offs (In other words, place sticky onto sticky.)

f.  Use release sheet in handling the cardstock until you cover the adhesive with glitter so you don’t leave fingerprints.

g.  Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush excess off.

h.  Color your images as desired using alcohol-based markers on the glitter.

i.  Cut around all peel-off pieces and attach to the card.

* Coloring Tips for alcohol-based markers and glitter: Remember that when using alcohol-based markers, such as Copics, work quickly and don’t let the tip of the marker linger on the glittered surface. Too much alcohol ink can dissolve the adhesive and remove the glitter. It takes very little ink to color the surface of the glittered image so work with a light touch. To get the faded look, lay a line of color down along one edge of the section you want to color and then use your Blender pen to pull the color across the rest of the image. You may have to lay more color down to get deeper shading after you blend it out.

5. Cut a piece of blue ribbon and tie into a bow and adhere to the top of the card over the reinforcement hole.

6. Cut a piece of white card that measures 4 1/4 inches x 3 1/2 inches.

  • Use the border die from the Tags & More 8 – Lattice set and die cut a border from brown card. Adhere this to the bottom of the white card.
  • Cut another piece of brown card 1 inch x 4 1/4 inches and adhere this to the top of the white card.
  • Adhere this panel to the folded red tag card as per photo above.

7. Using the Alphabet 1 – Caps die to die cut the letters ” Y; U; A; E; E; A; P” from aqua card and also the letters ” O; B; K; M; H; P; Y” from yellow card. (Place a piece of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive to black cardstock prior to die cutting the letters to make it easier to attach letters to card).

  • Measure from the top of the white card 1 1/4 inches and make a mark on both sides of the card. Place a piece of low tack masking tape between these lines. Place the letters alternating between aqua and yellow to spell YOU BAKE.
  • Remove the masking tape.
  • Measure from the top of the white card 3 inches and make a mark on both sides of the card. Place a piece of low tack masking tape between these lines. Place the letters alternating between aqua and yellow to spell ME HAPPY.
  • Remove the masking tape.
  • Erase all pencil marks.
  • Adhere the Cupcake Peel-Off sticker to the centre of the card.

What a cute card Frances and so different and unique! You did a wonderful job of coloring all of the “pieces and parts” to coordinate with the paper you chose to use. These would make really cute invitation cards to a cookie/cupcake baking party for any holiday or even a fun idea for a birthday party for those that like to bake and are brave enough to let several youngsters loose in their kitchen. Thanks again!
