A Way With Words

A Way With Words

August 7, 2015

Hi everyone,

It’s Els here today!

And what an exciting day it is, as we welcome Suzanne Cannon, Quietfire Design to Elizabeth Craft Designs as our third licensed designer. To welcome Suzanne, we are holding a fantastic competition over on our Facebook page. If you would like to win all twelve of the new Quietfire Design dies, you should check out our Facebook page for details of how to enter (and hopefully win!) If you can’t wait to be the proud new owner of all twelve of these new dies, don’t worry because you can get them for a steal on our website.

In this post, I will be sharing a collection of cards using the new Quietfire Design dies, named ‘A Way With Words’. Suzanne’s beautiful dies are so elegant, very versatile and can be used for both simple projects or more complicated (more decorated) projects. For the background of all my cards I used Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Silk Microfine Glitter and Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape, both of which are available on our website. For the first card, I used a masking technique and I’ll show you how I created the card in the step by step instructions below.

1. I used our Clear Double Sided Adhesive 101 mm tape role. First apply a piece of the tape to white cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″. Remove the release sheet and safe this to die cut a variety of snowflakes using the Elizabeth Craft Design Snowflakes die.

2. Apply the die cut snowflakes to the adhesive, Elizabeth Craft Design logo facing up. Make sure not to touch the adhesive as this will leave marks in your glitter. Use a piece of release sheet to press down the snowflakes on the adhesive.

3. Cover the adhesive with Bluebell Silk Microfine Glitter and brush off the excess.

4. Polish glitter with your index finger, this will make the glitter shine.

5. Carefully remove each snowflake using the Elizabeth Craft Design Fine Pointed Tweezers.

IMG_5979

6. After removing all the snowflakes, cover exposed adhesive with White Silk Microfine Glitter and brush off the excess (don’t polish the white glitter).

7. Adhere glitter piece to the front of a white top fold card.

8. Die cut one Merry Christmas from black cardstock backed with Elizabeth Craft Design Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape and one from Elizabeth Craft Design Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape as well. Make sure to use the Metal Adaptor Plate when die cutting. Adhere both greetings to card front (use black Merry Christmas as a shadow for the Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz).

9. Add Silver Lines Peel-Offs around snowflakes piece.

I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial and will try this technique yourself. The elegant words and greetings dies from the ‘A Way with Words’ collection are a beautiful combination with Elizabeth Craft Design’s Silk Microfine Glitter or Shimmer Sheetz.

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape over and over again making cards, using it for ATC’s and in cutting out my die cuts so I don’t have to use glue.

  • Michael Bakeler August 17, 2015 at 10:48 am

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to create an adhesive side to my paper which I will then use for die cutting all the awesome dies I have. I want my reindeer to be done in a beautiful chocolate or rust Silk Microfine Glitter to shimmer on the card. Or use my favorite Cool Diamond on the die cut and then color it with my Spectrum Noir pens. So many awesome things you can do with the Double Sided Adhesive Tape! Thank you Els!

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to glitter my world! I love your glitter and the tape just makes that much easier to use it. So shiny!

    • Sandi Smith August 17, 2015 at 6:47 am

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Double Sided Adhesive to paper craft the way I want to craft. I love to make my own card layers and embellishments from sparkling glittered cardstock using with intricate detail using dies like the Elizabeth Crafts Merry Christmas die. Put glittered cardstock with an intricate die and I’m in heaven. This adhesive allows me to make my own glittered cardstock and I can avoid messy glue when adding beautiful die cut words to my cards.
BUT…the biggest reason I plan to use Elizabeth Crafts Double Sided Adhesive is because I have TREMORS! You might think that wouldn’t be a big deal but it is, especially when using intricate dies. I almost gave up card making because the harder I try to do detail work, the more my hands shake. Adding adhesive to an intricate die is impossible with glue! Elizabeth Crafts adhesive will allow me to paper craft the way I want. I don’t have to give up anything. That’s a REALLY BIG reason for using this adhesive!

‘I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to make my Christmas Cards this year, I make about 70 plus, of course 13 of which goes to each of my grandchildren. Using this tape will make it so much easier than using the glue bottles or the runner tapes, Applying glitter which I already have from Elizabeth Craft will be a breeze now. Thank you for the wonderful ideas and sharing it with us less creative minds.

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to affix my Elizabeth Craft Designs detail die cuts to my cards and (as insired by your samples) as a ‘glitter mask’….I personally often use the peel off diecut piece back on another exposed section of tape as a ‘mask’….diecut pieces than can be used many times….I am an avid, avid, ‘rabid’, avid cardmaker.

In my dreams I own all of Elizabeth Craft Designs dies and stamps. I sit in my large, beautiful craft room all day making amazing cards using my Karen Burniston Dies. It takes me all day because I have to wait for my trusty liquid glue to dry at each step. Now, one day I hear of a contest. And, because it is MY dream, I win it! Now, I am creating cards so fast. And have free time left at the end of the day. The reason? I won the most amazing, incredible double-sided adhesive tape you could imagine! It makes cardmaking a breeze! I love it and I plan on using my Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape forever and ever! Thank you very much!

  • Lynn C. August 16, 2015 at 12:31 pm

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to make a batch of Halloween cards.

  • Kathy Jo August 16, 2015 at 11:01 am

I plan to use the double sided tape on a Christmas project: I just purchased two rustic wood frames from a second hand store. Vintage style paper will be used in the frame and velvet ribbon wrapped around the outside of the frame (a cute bow will be added). The tape will be used with the new Suzanne Cannon word dies and Elizabeth Craft Designs glitter. The Season’s Greetings die will be used in one frame and Merry Christmas in the other. (the glitter will make it “pop!” against the vintage paper) One will be in the hallway at the front door and the other in the living room near our tree. 🙂

  • Pat August 16, 2015 at 10:27 am

I would really like to experiment with Your double sided tape when making my cards. Seems to be the real thing!

I plan on Using Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to make tons of pop it up cards. I just purchase 10 pop it up dies and love every one of them. I have very little time to craft, but placing the adhesive behind the dies is pure genius. Never thought of doing that. Love al of Elizabeth Design products. Also addicted to the peel off stickers and glitter.

And since it’s clear adhesive, no one will see it stuck to my eyelids! LoL!! Ok, in all seriousness though, I’d use ECD double sided adhesive tape to create fun patterns and designs with micro fine silk glitter. I’m addicted to that stuff! It’s worse than a potato chip! You can’t just have one! 🙂

  • Cindy Miller August 14, 2015 at 11:38 pm

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs double-sided adhesive tape to show my friends and fellow card makers what I learned in Els’ class when she was in Warrenton, Oregon, awhile back. We had so much fun using the glitter techniques with the double sided adhesive, and I love sharing. My friend Bobbi and I hosted a “Stamp Out Hunger” event where paper crafters brought food for the local food bank for admission to the all-day crop. We had 14 demonstrators showing techniques. I had three sessions using Elizabeth craft designs double sided adhesive and the microfine glitter. All three were full of enthusiastic card makers, and we had to offer a 4th! (BTW we raised over a half ton of food and $700 for the food bank.) Come back to our area, Els! We love you here.

  • Catalina Laires August 14, 2015 at 5:37 pm

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to create my own double sided cardstock of my choice. I plan to adhere a single sided portion of lightweight cardstock to another piece of cardstock. This will make it double sided and then when I use it to make accordion cards, both sides will have an image or color that I want and it will be unique as well.

  • Denise Bryant August 14, 2015 at 5:33 pm

It hold so strong I don’t need to worry about product flaking off. Then there is using it with the Karen Burniston dies to make those extra layers stick when using those die cut pieces. Or how about stepping outside the box and using it for altered items on a larger background paper. Adding bling buttons glitter micro beads and all sorts of fun stuff. Love the quality, clarity and sizes!

  • Linda Wong August 13, 2015 at 10:54 pm

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double sided Adhesive tape with most of my creations from cards, collage canvas (word/verse/quote inspirations) tiles (making 25 for a friend now), bookmarks and for my niece’s wedding decorations this September. Just got 2 more ELD 2.5” rolls and large sheets and plan on getting the larger size. They are so versatile and great with intricate dies and words. I hate to waste and keep my tape scraps. My joy is in the creating and using my scraps to create something new. I give away and donate most of what I make. I make decorated tape strips with paint and a gelli plate (so it is not sticky on the back side) and this tape lets me adhere it to whatever I need it for. It also works with material (if you don’t wash it), vellum, and pigment powder. I try to create almost every day and this tape has not failed me. I can still dimensionalize with this tape to get a 3D effect and I have the flexibility to totally or partially stick things together. No more Xyron. I just got my niece and friend into paper crafting with this tape and they can’t believe how easy it is. I am not an artist, just a wanna be and I love this tape and it’s quality for anything that does not require a lot of weight. This tape is a MUST and go to for any 2 things that need to stick together.

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to complete (or at least start) on my Grand-daughter’s Barbie House. I have an old bookcase that has 4 shelves. I use scrapbook paper for the flooring and walls. ECD Double sided adhesive tape will make it so much easier!

  • Donna DeCaro August 13, 2015 at 12:33 pm

I craft almost daily with my twin 8 year old daughters. We usually make cards, and the first thing they grab for is the double sided tape! It works so well (and it is not messy!!). The girls and I would love to try out all of the various sizes that we may not have used before! We have so much fun crafting together and hopefully it will give them some fun memories to last a lifetime!!

  • Jean Bullock August 13, 2015 at 11:47 am

The cards are awesome. I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to help my students (grades 3-8) make their Mother’s and Father’s Day cards. Every year I use up nearly all my adhesives for these projects, so winning this prize would certainly be a blessing. My students’ parents love the cards we make for them. Some of the students have reported that their mothers love their cards so much that they frame the cards and hang them for everyone to see. My students learn to make layered panels and use punches and die cuts. Last year I taught them how to mold punched out flower petals to make 3 D paper flowers. This year we are going to make box cards, so the double sided adhesives would really come in handy.

I have been making cards for my family and friends for 20 years now and learning new ways of doing things from groups and youtubes. It is play time for me and relaxing too. I have to save cared images so I do not forget ideas. Thank you, Kay Bentley

  • Marianne Petralia August 13, 2015 at 6:10 am

Quietfire – what exquisite handwriting for these dies. The double sides tape would be an excellent companion to these dies np fussing to adhere them to the surfaces of cards and layouts – just peeling them off of the double sides tape – embellishing them and voila’ you are ready to adhere them to your project. I am very anxious to purchase these quieter dies and to have the double sided tape. I use your other dies – (love the tags) very often. Thank you for your Youtube videos demonstrating your products!!

I just made a birthday card last night for my daughter and used a doily type die which would have been a nightmare to glue down belfoe but not with your adhesive sheet. Elizabeth Craft Design Adhesives Sheets make crafting a breeze. Thank you for making them.

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to keep my students in their seats when school starts–just kidding! I retired from teaching years ago. • Vivian C. August 13, 2015 at 12:16 am

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to add sparkle to my life with lots and lots of glitter (Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Silk Microfine Glitter of course)! And that is just the start of all the wonderful things I plan to do with this amazing tape.

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to make cards and make use of all my micro glitter.

  • Roberta Eldridge August 12, 2015 at 10:42 pm

‘ I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to make creative cards that will encourage the recipient. I will use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape when I teach my “students” and my grandchildren how to make cards for every occasion, especially the “Just Because” occasion.
I want to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to capture Ken Oliver’s Color Bursts that have been sprinkled onto his Best Ever craft mat and then applied to cardstock to be die cut into sentiments and shapes. Once these are die cut, they can be easily applied to a cardbase to make a lovely card.
Another project that I would love to do with Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape is to take these die cuts and using the same exact design for two sides, mirrored, and make the totem-pole like artwork we did in school as a child. (Paint on one side of the fold of paper, fold it closed, firmly smooth it out so that the paint transfers from one side to the other so their is a mirror image). If I had a Brother Scan and Cut or a Silhouette this would be even better because I would not be limited to die cuts. I could actually use my Arts & Letters Express graphic software to create the art and cut it out exactly as I want it and then I could use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to capture it and adhere it down onto cardstock to make a very unique and personalized card, or bookmark, or tag, or whatever I’d like. The possibilities would be limitless!

The double-sided tape is just about indispensable when you’re working the glitter (I only like the microfine glaitter for Els. Nothing else feels so silky… oh, hence the name, Silk Microfine Glitter. I’m rolling my eyes up at that.

I would love the way with words, and adhesive tape this is what I would do with them, I just turned my sister in law ( in another state) into a crafter by sharing some of my stuff, and stuff I was not using, But she does not have much money for adding to her stock, so I would make up a file of each one, 10 to 20 of each, with your adhesive on the back and send it to her for her use. I took your class in Colorado on how to do this snow flake loved it. I am using your words I previously bought, to send right now,Just need the new set.

I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to do the same thing I’ve been doing, almost exclusively, for the past year since I was first introduced to your wonderful products, i.e. making greeting cards with you fabulous peel-offs, glitter, dies, double-sided adhesive and Karen Burniston’s die sets. I started with your 6″ x 6″, 5″ x 12″ and 8-1/2 x 11″ sheets. When you introduced your tape rolls, I was delighted and can’t wait to get my hands on the new 101mm roll. Nothing makes cardmaking easier and more impressive than your products. My Zyron machine is now just a dust-collector…maybe, I’ll put it in my yard sale next week!

Using ECD Double Sided Adhesive give me a clean no glue to wipe off for my cards. It cuts down some of the time consuming gluing and using it for dies that do not need to be 3-D makes it so much easier. For the slimmer double sided tape, it can be a breeze to adhere pieces together.

  • Lynn Dosch August 12, 2015 at 11:41 am

My latest project is to create sympathy and birthday cards to give to my 90-year-old mother-in-law. She is a prolific card-sender, but now home bound so she can’t shop for cards (and she can’t afford the prices in the stores anymore.) Elizabeth Craft adhesive allows me to turn out beautiful cards with a professional look because of how easy it is to create adhesive die cuts of very intricate designs. She loves the glitter glam of the peel-off stickers. I would love to win more tape and the new size will make creating the larger cards easier.

  • Marybeth August 12, 2015 at 11:40 am

‘I plan to use Elizabeth Craft Designs Double Sided Adhesive Tape to create cards and scrapbooks. Adhering small pieces is always a challenge. Using ECD’s double sided adhesive can help prevent damaging small die cut pieces with glue. Also by using ECD’s double sided adhesive there will no longer be unsightly tape showing on the edges of the image.
I learned about Elizabeth Craft Designs at my local Scrapbook Expo. Since then I love using Elizabeth Craft Peel-Off stickers on microfine paper. Adding double sided adhesive to my cards and scrapbook pages with my die cutting machines will greatly enhance my projects. Winning these products will encourage me to continue experimenting and learning new products and create new projects.
