Happy Friday Crafters!

Susan Tierney-Cockburn has created the most beautiful fall scene using her new dies and we’re going to share with you how she did it. You can let your creative juices flow and join Susan in celebrating the changing seasons. What a stunning time of year!

(Pssst, have you seen our new YouTube video? In it, Els introduces both her and Susan’s brand new dies, which began shipping yesterday!)

1.Cut the white Elizabeth Craft Designs’ soft finish cardstock into an A6 card (6 1/4” x 4 1/2”); use a bone folder to press the edge.

2.Cut the second layer, brownish-red paper 6” x 4 1/4” and Elizabeth Craft Designs’ watercolor paper 5 3/4” x 4”.

3.Adhere the 2nd layer to the card with Elizabeth Craft Designs’ clear double-sided adhesive tape.

4.Make a template – 6” x 4” with the Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Clouds & Grass die. Using this die, a sponge applicator and Phthalo Blue Tint, create the clouds.  Use a separate sponge applicator and Bright Yellow Green Shade to create grass edging.

5.Adhere clear double-side adhesive tape to 100# white cardstock, 80# medium brown cardstock, a small piece of maize for the hat and glossy black for Crows and G45’s mini pattern and solid for die cutting.

6.Die cut the CountryScapes as follows:

-Country Fence, wheelbarrow, garden tools, bushel  basket, and Scarecrow post–1 each from white and dark  brown cardstock

-Scarecrow’s 1 shirt from G45 mini pattern & 1 pant from  solid

-Straw “hands, feet, neck” in maize (hat is cut from a  piece of maize cardstock with double sided adhesive  backed. Cut 4 hands & feet to add fullness.

-2 Crows from glossy black

-For Fall Leaves: Color a 4” x 4” piece of watercolor  paper with various mediums (i.e., PanPastels, Distress  Inks) to create a collage of color. Cut 4 times.

7.After you have your card together, start building your story;  Adhere the white cardstock pieces on top of the dark brown.  Lightly sponge the fence and wheelbarrow using some Distress Ink/Walnut Stain and shade with PanPastel Set III in Raw Umber, Neutral Grey Shade, and Orange Shade.  Repeat with the garden tools and the post of the scarecrow.  The face of the scarecrow should be in just the Orange Shade & Yellow Ochre Tint.

9.Create a strip of grass from medium green cardstock and adhere under the country fence.  Prop the rake against the wheelbarrow and the pitch fork against the fence.

10.Start building the character of the Scarecrow–Add the scarecrow’s pants, then the shirt and hat.  The hat can be shaded with a little Permanent Red Extra Dark PanPastel (Set III) to highlight the texture. The straw for the hands, feet and around the neck are shaded with the Yellow Ochre Tint on the Maize cardstock.

11.Use CopicMarkers E09 & E99 to color the bushel basket.

12.Place Fall Leaves on the Leaf Pad and use the Leaf Tool to accentuate a stem line down each one.  Use small tweezers to pick up the leaves, dip stem end lightly into the glue and adhere to the wheelbarrow and bushel basket.

13.Add the large & small branches on either side; add a few of the Fall leaves to the branches.

14.Finally, add the crows, a pumpkin or two to your story.
