Happy Easter – Lucky the Rabbit and Easter Eggs

ECD-Joset-Easter--Eggs-

Good Morning.  This is Selma Stevenson today with my first Easter card of the year.  Children always look forward to coloring eggs and are excited to discover the ones that were hidden by the Easter Bunny.  I had fun creating a lot of different eggs using the Joset Designs’ Easter Eggs dies. There are eggs in three sizes and three overlays so you can create a variety of pretty eggs.

Easter Eggs

  1.  Die cut Easter Eggs using solid color cardstock in a variety of colors.  If you would like to create glittery eggs follow the directions on Els’s YouTube video tutorial HERE and use your choice of Silk Microfine Glitter.

2.  To create the basket I made, die cut Karen’s Chicken Wire from tan cardstock backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Using scissors, freehand cut a shape you would like for the basket from the same tan cardstock.  The Chicken Wire will create the weave  over the basket.

3.  To create the edges of the basket, use Els van de Burgt Studio Ropes 1 die set and die cut the rope shown above three times from tan cardstock,  and also one rope with the frayed ends.

4.  Attach the Chicken Wire to the basket.  Use scissors to trim off excess Chicken Wire that extends past the basket.

5.  Attach the Rope to the outside edges of the basket as shown in the project photo.

6.  Use the same Rope die cut to create a handle for the basket.  This will need to be pieced to create the curve of the handle.

7.  Attach the ends of the frayed Rope strip at the sides of the basket where the handle joins the main shape.  Sponge around edges of ropes with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

8.  Die cut Lucky the Rabbit using gray card stock for the backing and White Soft Finish Cardstock for the other pieces.  Color insert for ears, nose and feet with a pink marker.   Color the whiskers with a gray marker. Assemble Lucky. Color the carrot and attach to Lucky’s paw.

9.  Die cut 8 grass strips using the Grass die from the Easter Eggs set.  Use scissors, if you like, to cut between each blade of grass to make it look fuller. Use markers to shade the grass. (Refer to project photo.)

10.  Die cut Susan’s CountryScapes Garden Edges Tulip from white cardstock. Color with markers and assemble.

11.  Cut a yellow frame using Els van de Burgt Studio Stitched Rectangle die. Using foam tape for dimension, attach basket, leaving the upper half free so you can tuck in grass and eggs.

12.  Arrange Easter Eggs in basket, using dimensional tape on a few for dimension, then glue grass along the upper edge of basket so eggs appear to be resting in the grass.

13.  Attach Lucky the Rabbit with dimensional tape.

14.  Attach grass along bottom edge of the rectangle. Overlap the pieces as shown. Cut the Garden Edges Tulips strip into two pieces. Glue the Garden Edges Tulips pieces at the sides of the basket (3 tulips at the left, 4 at the right) tucked partially behind the grass.

15.  Add Happy Easter peel-offs.  Mount yellow panel to a piece of white cardstock that as been embossed with raised scoring lines around the edges, then to a larger rectangle cut from purple gingham pattern paper. Mount to a white left-side fold card base.

Easter is just a month away so now is a good time to get started working on Easter cards!
