Hi everyone,

It’s Frances here today with another tutorial to share with you. This time round I have decided to play with a few of the new dies to create a winter card.

Here’s how I created my card:

1. Using the second largest square from the Stitched Squares die set, die cut a square from striped designer paper.

  • Using the largest square from the Dotted Scallops Squares die set, die cut a square from Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Cut a piece of Perfect Pink Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 1/2 inches x 11 inches. Score along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches and fold to create a top-folding card base.
2. Using the middle circle from the Entwined Circles die set, die cut a circle using Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • Die cut a second circle using White Soft Finish Cardstock.

  • Position the white inner circle from the Entwined Circles die to the lower right hand corner of the card so that part of the circle is hanging off the card. Adhere in place. (Tip: Make sure the white area on the card is large enough to fit the winter hat when assembled)
  • Remove the liner from the adhesive on the Pink Entwined Circle and adhere it to the card so that it fits around the white circle already attached to the card.
  • Trim off overhanging edges of the circles from the right side and bottom of card.
3. Layer the designer paper panel to the pink Dotted Scallop Square created in step 1 and then to the folded pink card base.

4. Using the Winter Hat die set, die cut the following:
  • (1) Solid Winter Hat from Spring Green Soft Finish Cardstock
  • (1) Detail Winter Hat from Perfect Pink Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • (1) Detail Winter Hat from Sunflower Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • (1) Large Pom Pom from Sunflower Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • Adhere the pink detail hat to the solid green hat.
  • Using a pricky tool, carefully remove the inner detail pieces from the yellow hat and inlay them into the pink hat.
  • Attach the yellow pom pom to the top of the hat.
  • Adhere the hat to the white circle on card using foam tape.
5. Die cut the A Way with Words Brrrrr two times from Perfect Pink Soft Finish Cardstock, plus two additional snowflakes.
  • Layer the sentiment pieces on top of each other to give extra height when attached to card.
  • Adhere the sentiment to the top left-hand side of card. Refer to project photo above for placement.
  • Adhere additional pink snowflakes around sentiment as per photo.
6. Adhere Pink/Silver Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers to the centre of the snowflakes and beads on Entwined Circle.

  • Using the second largest square from the Stitched Squares die set, die cut a square from White Soft Finish Cardstock
  • Using the second largest square from the Stitched Squares die set, die cut a piece of designer paper. (Tip: most of this designer paper will be covered so you only need to cut a piece about 2 or 3 inches high).
  • Adhere the designer paper piece to the bottom of the white square (refer to #1 in photo above).
  • Using the scallop speech bubble from the Speech Bubble Edge Options die cut a piece of Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches.
  • Adhere pink speech bubble to white square so that approximately 1 inch of designer paper shows at the bottom of the card. (Refer to #2 in photo above.) Trim off any overhanging cardstock from edges of white square.
  • Die cut A Way with Words – Warm Thoughts from Perfect Pink Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back.
  • Adhere the word “Thoughts” to the pink speech bubble toward the right hand side of the card so that the tail in the flourish is centred in the “V” of the speech bubble. (refer to #3 in photo above).
  • Using the scallop speech bubble from the Speech Bubble Edge Options die cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock what measures 5 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches.
  • Adhere white speech bubble to white square so that the “V” in the speech bubble is centred above the “ou” in the word “Thought” on pink speech bubble. (refer to #4 in photo above). Trim off any overhanging cardstock from edges of white square.
  • Adhere the word “Warm” to the white speech bubble toward the left-hand side of the card. (refer to #5 in photo above).
  • Using the largest square from the Dotted Scallops Squares die set, die cut a square from Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock. Layer the decorated white square onto the scalloped pink square (refer to #6 in photo above).

8. Attach decorated square to centre of inside of card.
