Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge – February

February 7, 2017

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our February Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge. This month the challenge theme is In Stitches – the Design Team are featuring any of the Elizabeth Craft Designs “Stitched” dies on their cards/projects this month. They can decorate their projects with anything else they like.

For today’s challenge we are giving away sets of the stitched dies ( a pack of 6 separate dies that includes: Stitched Hearts, Fishtails, Squares, Rectangles, Ovals and Circles) to 3 people.

To enter simply leave a comment on this blog post below and tell us “What Designer Challenge would you like to see in the future?”

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing

The winners will be announced on Friday, February 10 on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

Now let’s take a look at the wonderful creations our talented Design Team have created for the Challenge this month. For more information about the cards, click on the Designer’s name under each card to be taken to the Designer’s blog post and will open up in a new window.

To get us started today, Selma Stevenson has created this wonderful Dreamcatcher card. For the “stitched” part of the challenge, Selma has used the Stitched Fishtails, one of the new dies, and the Celebrate sentiment from the Els van de Burgt Studio collection. To decorate her card, Selma has used the Dreamcatcher, Arrows and some of the negative pieces from the Diamond Background (on the sides of her card) – dies all from Joset Designs. Selma used Soft Finish Cardstock to create her card and embellished the Dreamcatcher using Glitter Dots Peel-Offs.

Sandy Diller is making us quiver with this fun tag. Sandy has created a tag using the Tags & More – Lace die set from the Els van de Burgt Collection. Sandy has used the new Joset Designs Diamond Background die to create an embossed pattern onto the Olive Twist Soft Finish Cardstock tag. Sandy’s “stitched” pieces are the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners and the Els van de Burgt Studio Stitched Hearts. To finish off her tag, Sandy added the Joset Designs Arrows to the heart.

For our next project today, Birgit Norton has created a beautiful card using the Stitched Hearts; Stitched Rectangles; Dotted Scallop Rectangles, Leaf & Berry Branches and Love Sentiments from the Els van de Burgt Studio collection. Birgit chose Soft Finish Cardstock to create her card using the colors White, Olive Twist and Pale Peach.

Frances Byrne has created a fun background on her card using the  ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners and Dark Fuchsia, Perfect Purple, Dusky Lavender and White Soft Finish Cardstock. To decorate her card Frances has used the Stitched Circles, Dotted Scallop Rectangles and Celebrate sentiment from Els van de Burgt Studio. To finish off her card she chose the Joset Designs Small Cupcake, using Lavender Ice Silk Microfine Glitter on the stars.

Evgenia Petzer has created our next gorgeous card. To decorate her card she has used the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners for the designer paper on the background of her card. Evgenia has also used ModaScrap Leaf Branch 3 and Lace Heart, and Stitched Hearts from Els van de Burgt Studio.

Design Team member Sanna Lippert decided to create not one, but two cards for the challenge using similar dies and layout. For her cards Sanna chose the Stitched Fishtails, Stitched Hearts and Love Sentiments from Els van de Burgt Studio. Sanna  also used Joset Designs General Sentiments Clear Stamps to create the XOXO background on the fishtail tag on the top card.

Next up is a card from Melanie Smith. Melanie chose the Stitched Rectangles from Els van de Burgt Studio to die cut the rectangular panels on her card. To decorate her card Melanie has used Joset Designs Teacup die using various designer papers . Melanie has also added the ‘Happy Birthday” sentiment from the General Sentiments Clear Stamp set which has been layered using the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners.

Anita Kejriwal created our next card which uses the Stitched Fishtails, Stitched Circles and the Celebrate sentiment from Els van de Burgt Studio on Soft Finish Cardstock. Anita has also used the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtails; Leaf Pocket; Leafy Branch 3 and Happy Flowers to decorate her card. Note how she has backed the Stitched Fishtails with the Leaf Pocket die.

Our final card for today is from Katelyn Grosart. Katelyn has used the Stitched Circles and Stitched Rectangles from Els van de Burgt Studio.  To decorate her card Katelyn has also used ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners; Leafy Branch 2; Leafy Branch 3 and Happy Flowers on Soft Finish Cardstock. The tiny circles inside the flowers were created using one of the dies from the Dreamcatcher die set from Joset Designs as well as the General Sentiments stamp set.

Thank you for visiting our blog today. We hope you enjoyed seeing all the wondering creations our Die Cut Design Team created this month and that it has inspired you to create your own “Stitched” projects. Don’t forget to visit our designers’ blogs by clicking on their names to find out more about each project.

If you would like a chance to win our Stitched prize package, be sure to leave your comment on TODAY’S blog post. We will select three lucky winners in a random drawing and the winners  will be announced here on our blog on Friday, February 10th.

  • Kathleen Longden February 8, 2017 at 1:06 am

    What Beautiful Cards.
Els I just wish there were outlets in the U.K selling all of your latest dies. It is very difficult to obtain them here. I managed to purchase some on the show you did in England last weekend. I went back to the channel on the Monday to find it was just a weekend special really gutted. I would like to see more designs on the stitched theme using florals.

  • Frann February 8, 2017 at 12:48 am

Your designers are superb! I wonder if they can handle a double cut challenge. I got the idea fromAnita Kejriwal’s card where it appears that she cut the Leaf Pocket die and then cut that die cut with ModaScrap Stitched Fishtails. I’d also like to see more unintended uses of some of Karen Burniston’s interactive dies.

  • Michele Schubert February 7, 2017 at 11:52 pm

    Love these dies!
I would love to see what the designers come up with for either layouts or a home decor project….

This is a hard question. The designers are wonderful and have such great ideas. I love the stitched designs. I think I would like to see more floral designs. I am a realist when I use watercolours and like the flowers to look like you just picked them. Also when I do the paper flowers I like them to look real. You all do such a lovely job it is hard to narrow the field down.

  • preety February 7, 2017 at 12:22 pm

These are beautiful creations! such pretty results with the dies 🙂 I love the added interest stitched dies provide. Would love to see these talented ladies inspire us with a masculine themed challenge to show us how dies can be used for making masculine projects for the men in our lives 🙂 another idea for a challenge is to show us how to use 1 die in different ways within the same project, which will help us learn ways to stretch our supplies if we have limited dies. Thanks for the chance!
    cheers
    preety

  • Shelly Lindgren February 7, 2017 at 12:17 pm

What a fun giveaway! I absolutely adore these stitched dies. As for what I’d like to see in the future is the best way to mix & match and/or using dies for a project that is not its original intent (such as using an owl die to create various other animals) among designers. Sometimes it’s hard to think outside the box.

  • Dorothy Mutafopulos February 7, 2017 at 12:09 pm

I am so in love with Selma Stevenson card using the Dreamcatcher by Joset Designs its beautiful . I would like to see the stitched dies in layers with pattern paper or even creating a window and a scene as if you where looking outside.

  • Joanne February 7, 2017 at 10:11 am

I also find these are all gorgeous!! I would like to see a baby card challenge. Something more than using Susan’s beautiful Baby die. It would be interesting to see just how creative the designers would be…to have a “I never thought of using it in that way” moment!!

I would love to see more shabby chic- mixed media designs for the major birthdays 18th, 21st, etc and for 25th, 50th 60th Wedding Anniversaries

  • Sharman February 7, 2017 at 9:52 am

I would love to see more ideas using the basic dies like these stitched dies. I love all the speciality dies especially the new pocket die (love that but can’t afford it) but I think having the basics is important and then you can also use the speciality ones with them. Love every you tube. Great video’s and wonderful tips and samples. Gets me very inspired.

  • Denise Bryant February 7, 2017 at 9:50 am

  • Laura P February 7, 2017 at 9:32 am

It’s not really a challenge idea, but I would love to see samples of the various dies on your web site, listed with the item. I’m not super creative on my own, but I love to borrow ideas from others. It would be great to see the dies used in cards when I’m trying to decide if I want to purchase. For example, I just purchased #1153 Banners, #1330 Sliders/Spinners and #1279 Fishtail Borders and I need to figure out ways to use them. Samples would really help. I’d also love to see a fitted fishtail banner as I love layering the fitted and stitched designs together. Okay, not sure if this has been done – a Challenge for the Sliders/Spinners die. How’s that for answering your question? 🙂

  • Fay February 7, 2017 at 9:32 am

Wow! How lovely! I love pop up cards and anything with dimension. I have a Silhouette Cameo but a couple of years ago I began collecting dies and I love them. It would be great to add these to my stash.

  • Sandra Heitman February 7, 2017 at 9:31 am

I love the stitched dies. They leave such a beautiful effect on your card. I think with spring coming it would be nice to have a challenge with Susan’s Garden Club flowers. They are so beautiful. Just imagine the floral bouquets and gardens that can be made.

Thanks for the gorgeous samples – quite an inspiration, as always.

  • KT Fit Kitty February 7, 2017 at 9:27 am

Wow, these are gorgeous! I love all the stitched dies everyone used! As for a challenge, how about a challenge that your customers could enter? I’d love to join in and share some inspiration and I bet you would get a lot of participants. Maybe you already have such a challenge? I haven’t seen it…

  • Vicki February 7, 2017 at 9:26 am

All of these are so pretty but I just love the new Dreamcatcher die set. It makes me think of our Native Americans and living in Southern Oklahoma it’s fitting. So, since your design team is so diverse with their backgrounds and styles, I think it would be nice to see a ‘heritage’ challenge. Each designer makes a card that represents their heritage, where they were born, where they live, etc. I can imagine all the great cards!

  • Rita Navarre February 7, 2017 at 9:26 am

what beautiful cards! I really like any challenges that you do…

I would love to see a design contest with your wonderful designers combining beautiful pastel soft finish cardstock and spring flowers in a “shape” card where you don’t cut the top of a larger shape i.e. heart, tea cup or whatever shape they would choose. Basically, a “shape” card…I think I was putting too many restrictions on them lol. Love, love, love all your products. Can’t wait to see in in Kansas City in July.

  • Kathleen Jones February 7, 2017 at 9:14 am
