Hugs with Gerbera Daisy

Hello to all my crafty friends out there!

Welcome to ECD. Today my post for Susan’s Garden Club Team has Susan’s newly launched Garden Notes Gerbera Daisy  and Garden Notes Fairy – Tiger Lily . My Fairy is dancing in her flared skirt and she is super happy. For the background of my card I used the colors of spring.

The finished card measures 6 x 9-1/4 inches. Here is how it was created.

1.  Cut kraft cardstock 12 x 9-1/4 inches. Score at 6 and fold to make the card base.

2. Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock 5-3/4 x 9 inches. Stencil with modelling paste using Stage it Stencil – Paisley. Immediately clean the stencil. 3. When the modelling paste is thoroughly dry, paint the textured surface with watercolors in shades in green, yellow and pink. Distress the edges. Tie ribbon along the left side with a bow toward the top. adhere to the card base using 3D foam tape to add dimension.4. Die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock with smallest Stitched Ovals Die and Garden Notes Fairy – Tiger Lily. Die cut Oval Frame using Soft Finish Cardstock with largest Stitched Ovals Die. Paint the fairy as shown in the project photo. Alternatively, use colored pencils.5. Emboss oval cutouts with Fleur de Lis Embossing folder. Cut One oval in half. Sponge full oval and both half-ovals with inks to add color and highlight the pattern.

5. Color oval frame with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, cover with clear embossing powder and heat set. Color the Fairy with colored pencils.

6. For the Fairy’s skirt, please the half-ovals on each side of her waist and add the full oval to the center, overlapping as shown. Use 3D foam tape under the center oval.
7. Die cut Garden Notes Gerbera Daisy pieces to make two full bloom daisies and three buds from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Sponge the petals and leaves with inks. Shape the pieces, assemble and glue the flowers and leaves using Susan’s tool set, embossing pad and leaf pad.
8. Glue Prills in the center of the two full bloom daisies. Optional: Edge the petals with a bit of glue and apply Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to add sparkle.
9. Using black archival ink, stamp a small piece of white cardstock with the word ‘Hugs’ and cut one end at an angle to create a small banner. Sponge with ink or add color to the banner with light green watercolors.

10. Assemble the card front as shown in the project photo at the start of this post. Optional: Add pearls to outline the center section of the Fairy’s skirt; give her a necklace made with flat-back faceted gems.
