Congratulations!

March 29, 2017

Hi Friends! Piyanki here today welcoming spring with my handmade bouquet. I am from India. Here, the city of Srinagar hosts the World’s Largest Tulip Garden in Asia. Tourists from all across the globe flock to this garden in the month of April. It is open for 21 days. I found a photo on Google to show you. If you ever visit India at that time of year it is a must-see!

Here are instructions so you can make your own version of my tulip-filled Congatulations card:

Step 1: Die cut multiples of the word ‘Congratulations’ from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Or choose a different sentiment or greeting. Tip: For ease and speed later when adding the words to the card front, back the cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet before die cutting.

Step 2: Using the Garden Notes – Tulip 2 die set, cut enough pieces from White Soft Finish Cardstock to make four tulips, including petals, leaves, stems and stamens.

Step 3: Use Distress Inks applied with an ink applicator tool to color the pieces. Tulips grow in many colors, hence you can choose your favorites. Options: All four tulips can be the same color or you can mix the bouquet.

Step 4: Shape the pieces using Susan’s Garden Tool Set and mats.

Step 5: Using a clear drying glue to adhere the pieces (Susan recommends Beacon Kids Choice Glue), assemble the flowers with the stems and leaves.

Step 6: Make an A2 top-fold card base from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere the die cut sentiment pieces at an upward diagonal, repeating in evenly-spaced rows as shown in the photo below. Trim away excess at the edges.

Step 7 : Die cut a Stitched Oval from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Add it to the card front.

Step 8: Adhere the oval and the tulips to the card front. Finish the card with an organza ribbon bow.

Option: Instead of sending this project as a card, it would look great in a shadow box frame, don’t you think?

Please let us know if you like the card, comments are always appreciated. And we would love to see what you create with Susan’s Garden Club dies, so be sure to join the Elizabeth Craft Designs Facebook Family page.

Thanks for stopping by.
