Embossed Shimmer Sheetz Easter Eggs
by Judi Kauffman
Each year I make sparkly embossed Shimmer Sheetz Easter Eggs for my friends. It’s always a mix of hanging ornaments and cards, sometimes a two-fer card with a removable ornament on the front. I enjoy choosing the embossing folders and have a great time adding embellishments like Glitter Dots peel-offs.
This time I incorporated some of the new ModaScrap dies. I trimmed away portions of the Dandelion Fluff to create the feel of grass or nests as well as to make an egg stand! Dancing Butterflies and portions of the Lace Pocket made their way into some of the cards, too.
I usually try to limit my cards to only one or two dies but I went all-out this time, incorporating Stitched and Postage Stamp Rectangles as well as the aforementioned. The eggs are hand cut. I wanted chubby, bottom-heavy 3.5” eggs, larger than the Elizabeth Craft Designs egg die, so I drew my own pattern. (It’s a very simple shape – you won’t have any trouble drawing an egg, I promise!)
To get you started:
Each card has a plain white side fold base (4.25” x 5.5” for the smaller ones, 5” x 6” or 5” x 6.5” for the larger ones). The Easter greeting is a peel-off, the numbers for the date are die cut from Pale Blue Velvet Adhesive Sheet. One of the backgrounds is White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz, the other backgrounds are solid color cardstock, but feel free to substitute patterned papers! Some of the eggs are lightly sanded to tone down the sparkle. A helpful tip: Cut out the eggs before you emboss them so they can be precisely positioned within the embossing folder.
I’m going to let the photos do the rest of the talking, no step-by-step instructions this time. Among the photos is one that shows my coffee table with a cloisonné egg on its stand. That was the inspiration for the card with the orange Dandelion Fluff egg stand! A supply list follows the photo gallery.

Hi Judi, A beautiful plethora of cards and eggs and tags etc, the shimmer sheetz look so very effective, and I absolutely adore the edgings you have created on your first card, I really really love the effect.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Wow! The embossed eggs look amazing! I love how you used the other shapes to make the stands. Very cool!! Shimmer Sheetz are so versatile!!
Beautiful assortment of colors just stunning
Oh so lovely! Love the colors you used on those projects!
The dandelion puff nailed the gorgeous Easter eggs! Great inspiration.
These are the most beautiful eggs. Love all of your cards!!
Such an amazing variety and I enjoyed seeing how you altered the different dies to suit your needs. I really enjoyed this post!
Thanks, Karen! To my eye, ModaScrap dies do produce results that lend themselves to getting cut into pieces. That egg stand really did design itself!
