Circles, Tea and Macarons

Happy Friday!  It’s Karen here with a couple of thank you cards. One of my goals for 2017 is to be more grateful.  To show that gratitude, I need more thank you cards!  I’m a tad-bit circle-obsessed.  Yes, it’s a strange thing to be, but what better way to feed my obsession than crafting with circles.  Today, I am going to show you a FUN way to use the Circle Background die along with the Tea Time stamps.

Here are the steps I used to make this card:

1. Using the Circle Background die, cut a piece of Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock. Before removing the pieces from the die, put glue on the back of each of the circles, but not the frame. Then press the whole thing onto 85 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. (I was somewhat impatient in waiting for the glue to dry and not all of my pieces stuck to the White SFC so I had to add more glue and put them back into their original spots like putting together a puzzle.)  Once all the circles are in place, lift off the frame and glue it to another piece of white cardstock. (Tip: When using Beacon Kids Choice Glue, only a tiny amount is needed. It is the consistency of toothpaste and can be applied with a toothpick or corsage pin.)

2. Stamp the Tea Time images with permanent black ink. Color them with the following Copic markers: Top left – R81, R83, R85; top right – BG11, BG13, BG15; bottom left – YG00, YG03, YG06; and bottom right – Y00, Y02, Y06. Add a little Copic C1 to the edge of the cup that is left white to add some dimension. If not using Copics, use the photos to help choose markers or colored pencils or use a different color combination.

3. Die cut the images with the coordinating Tea Time dies.

4. Die cut the word ‘Thanks’ three times, once from patterned paper and twice from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Glue the three layers together with the patterned piece on top to add dimension to the sentiment.
5. For the card shown above, die cut a ModaScrap leaf and a Fitted (or Stitched) Circle from patterned papers. Layer and adhre the leaf, a doily, and the circle onto the card front. Add the stamped and die cut stacks of tea cups and macarons, using pop dots to add dimension. Use glue to adhere the sentiment. Embellish with a trio of half-pearls. Follow the same steps for the second card, shown below, but substitute a piece of lace for the leaf.
