“HELLO” – SUNSHINE TULIP CARD

May 30, 2017

“A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different…

It doesn’t have to. Its different…”

These lines from America’s celebrated spiritual teacher and author Marianne Williamson describes the spirit of the Tulip flower. Tulips have been known since centuries as the symbol of perfect endearing love between partners or family members.

Today I dedicate this card to the bonhomie I share with a childhood friend of mine whom I have connected with after almost 30 years. I have used Yellow tulips in this card as they mean “there’s a sunshine in your smile”. Yellow tulip is a great medium to express affection and care for your friends and loved ones. I dedicate this card not only to my friend but also all my fellow designers as a mark of warmth and camaraderie I share with each one of you.

This “Hello ” card is a layered card.

Step 1 – Create the card base by adding modeling paste on a piece of cardstock measuring 5 x 6.75 and then sprinkle Leaf Green Silk Microfine Glitter over the top.

Step 2 – Use the Feathers Embossing Folder to create the feathered background on a piece of green cardstock. Adhere the green feathered background to the base card to form the second layer.

Step 3 – The third layer is made by creating a shaker frame using Postage Stamp Rectangles, die cut  and layer the frames about 4 times from white cardstock adhering a piece of clear acetate to the underside of the top and bottom frames. Add dry glitter and glitter balls to give the shaker effect. Adhere shaker frame to top of green feathered cardstock.

Step 4 – Create the yellow tulips using Susan’s Garden Notes Tulip 2 die set. The gorgeous Tulips were made from White Soft Finish Cardstock and using buttercup and bright tangelo archival inks to add the colors to the tulip. Shape the flowers using the tools from the Metal Tool Kit to add embossing details.  Adhere petals to form the tulips using Kids Choice Glue. .

Step 5 – The leaves are also made from White Soft Finish Cardstock and coloured using fern green archival ink. Use the leaf pad to add the veins to the leaves.  Adhere tulips and leaves to the card using the photo above as a guide.

Step 6 – Die cut ivy from the Garden Notes Ivy Vine die set from green cardstock and add to card.

Step 7 – Add the “Hello” sentiment from the General Sentiments Clear stamp set which has been stamped onto White Soft Finish Cardstock using black ink and layered onto a piece of card  which was die cut using the Postage Stamp Rectangles.

Hope you have liked this card and would enjoy creating the same as I enjoyed doing it.
