Be the Sunshine in Someone’s Rainy Day

August 29, 2017

Hello Crafty People. This is Pavitra here with a beautiful scenic card created using Susan’s Gardn dies.

Here is how I created this card.

Step 1 – Cut a 12″ x 7-1/2″ rectangle from white cardstock. Score at 6″; fold in half to make a top-fold card base.

Step 2 – Cut a 5-3/4″ x 7-1/4″ rectangle from Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere to the card front.

Step 3 – Cut a 5-1/2″ x 7″ rectangle from White Soft Finish Cardsstock. Use Distress Ink pads in Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, and Peacock Feather to apply ink directly onto a non-stick craft mat. Spritz with water. Press the cardstock on top to pick up the ink. Repeat till the effect pleases your eye. Tip: Dry with a heat tool between applications to keep the splattered and mottled look.

Step 4 – Layer the inked panel onto the card front using foam tape to add dimension as shown below.

Step 5 – Die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock using the CountryScapes Mountains die. Ink with Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, and Pine Needles.

Step 6 – Die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock with CountryScapes the English Cottage 2 die set. Ink the pieces with Distress Ink in Scattered Straw, Vintage Photo, and Brushed Corduroy. Layer the pieces and assemble the cottage.

Step 7 – Layer the die cuts to the card front as shown, using foam tape to add dimension. Allow the roof to extend at the right side, trim the hillsides as needed.
Step 8 – Using Black Archival Ink, stamp the sentiment at the upper right.

You may find it easier to stamp the sentiment onto the inked panel after Step 3, BEFORE adding it to the card front. Or if you stamp the sentiment as the final step and it isn’t just right, stamp it onto a small piece of Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock, add a contrasting border, and adhere with a piece of foam tape to cover the mistake.

I hope you like this card. Thanks for visiting.
