Happy Holidays Christmas Card

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Happy Holidays Christmas Card. The starting point for my project was the new Christmas Tree Die designed by Becky Seddon. The project really took shape when I combined the Christmas tree die with a variety of die cut images from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Let me show you below how to make it at home.

1. Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″. Cut a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. With your pieces cut, peel off the back of the double sided adhesive piece and adhere it to the white soft finish cardstock piece. Place the decorative pieces of the Christmas Tree from the Christmas Tree die onto the adhesive cardstock and run through Big Shot. Punch out the positive pieces from each tree piece.

2. Starting with one of the decorative tree pieces, peel off the protective backing from the adhesive sheet. Cover the tree piece with White Silk Microfine Glitter. Tap off the excess glitter and then burnish the glitter with your finger. Continue this step until all decorative tree pieces have been covered with glitter.

3. With the decorative tree pieces from the Christmas Tree die still out, die cut the snowflake decorative tree piece out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Punch out the positive snowflakes and set them aside.

4. Using the Christmas Tree die, die cut the pot and base of the tree from White Soft Finish Cardstock. For the plain pot and tree base, blend Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface with a blending tool and foam. For the decorative part of the pot, blend Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface with a blending tool and foam.

5. From the Christmas Tree die, die cut the two stars from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Blend Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of each star with a blending tool and foam. Ink the edges of the stars using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

6. Using the Christmas Tree die, die cut the plain Christmas tree pieces from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Blend Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of each plain Christmas tree with a blending tool and foam. You can ink the edges of the plain Christmas trees using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

7. From the Celebration Flags, die cut the banner flag out of plain red paper from Graphic 45. Cut the banner down to five flags. Use the stars from the Hot Air Balloon die to die cut the stars out twice from Yellow Soft Finish Cardstock.

8. Use the Stitched Fishtail Banners die to die cut the 3/4″ banner out of plain paper from Graphic 45. Trim the banner to 4 1/4″. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Happy Holidays sentiment. Stamp the sentiment onto the banner. Ink the edges of the banner using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

9. Cut the following patterned paper and solid pieces from the St.Nicholas Patterned Pad and Patterns & Solids pad from Graphic 45:

Patterned Paper Piece: 5″ x 7″
Solid Paper Piece: 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″
Patterned Paper Piece: 4 5/8″ x 6 5/8″
Solid Paper Piece: 4 3/8″ x 6 3/8″
Patterned Paper Piece: 4 1/4″ x 6 1/4″
Solid Paper Piece: 4″ x 6″

After the papers have been cut, ink edges of the patterned paper using a blending tool with foam and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink.

10. Cut a card base from White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 7″ x 10″. Score the card base at 5″.

11. Adhere the 4 3/4″ piece of paper to the 5″ patterned paper piece. Adhere the 4 5/8″ patterned paper piece to the 4 3/4″ piece of paper.

12. Adhere the 4″ paper piece to the 4 1/4″ patterned paper piece. Adhere the 4 1/4″ patterned paper piece to the 4 3/8″ paper piece. Use thin foam squares to adhere the 4 3/8″ paper piece to the 4 5/8″ patterned paper piece.

13. Adhere the Happy Holidays banner 3/4″ from the bottom and right to the right edge of the 5″ patterned paper piece. Use glue to adhere a star to each banner flag. Adhere the banner to the top right corner of the card front.

14. Use glue to adhere the decorative pot to the plain pot. Adhere the tree base to the back of the tree pot. Use thin foam squares to adhere the pot with tree base 1/4″ above the sentiment.

15. Adhere the corresponding decorative Christmas tree piece to the plain Christmas tree piece. Use glue to adhere the decorative star to the plain star.

16. Start with the largest tree piece and use thin foam squares as well as adhesive to adhere to the base of the tree. Continue to adhere the tree pieces until you’ve adhered the smallest tree piece. With the tree formed, adhere the star to the top of the Christmas tree.
