There is Beauty in Simplicity

September 18, 2017

Hello Crafty People!

A warm welcome to the ECD blog. I am Pavitra here today with lovely Alstroemeria flowers from Susan’s Garden for you.

Have a look –

Here is how I created this card:

Step 1 – Cut watercolor paper to 6 x 7-1/2 inches. For the watercolor effect, dab Distress inks in Peeled Paint, Fired Brick and Picked Raspberry onto a non-stick craft mat, spritz with water and press the paper on top of the inks to pickup the color. Repeat if needed. Air dry or speed the drying with a heat tool.

Step 2 – Place Clear Double Sided Adhesive tape diagonally as shown.

Step 3 – Sprinkle Solar Gold Microfine Glitter onto the exposed adhesive. Brush off excess and return to the jar. Polish the glitter with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. (Don’t skip this important step. Polishing is what brings out the magic!)

Step 4 – Cut Spring Green Soft Finished Cardstock to 6-1/4 x 7-3/4 inches. Adhere glittered rectangle onto it using small dabs of Kids Choice Glue or Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 5 – Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock to 13 x 8 inches, score at 6-1/2 inches and fold to create the card base. Layer the card front onto the base, using 3D foam tape to add dimension.

Step 6 – Die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock using GN Victorian Tea Cup & Saucer die. Ink with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.

Step 7 – Die cut Soft Finish Cardstock using Flower Lace 1 die.

Step 8 – Adhere to card front toward the lower left as shown above.

Step 9 – Die cut White Soft Finish Cardstock using GN Alstroemeria die. Color the petals, stamens, and leaves with inks (see supply list) or other coloring medium of choice. (Cut enough pieces for five flowers and lots of leaves.)

Step 10 – Shape the flowers and leaves using Susan’s tools, Molding Pad, and Leaf Pad. Assemble each flower. Apply Prills to the tips of the stamens using tiny dabs of Kids Choice Glue.

Step 11 – Shape the Tea Cup so it is slightly rounded. Adhere to the card front so it is sitting on the lace ‘doily. Place some moss into the cup, along with all of the flowers, leaves, and pieces of lace (or burlap, mesh or ribbon).

Step 12 – Stamp “There is beauty in simplicity,” a sentiment from the Little Words That Mean a Lot Clear Stamp set. Trim close to the words. Ink the edges. Adhere at the top right of the card front using glue only at the ends so the strip is curved and dimensional.

Step 13 – Add sequins, adhesive-backed pearls, or dots of pearl paint as a final embellishment.

Thank you for stopping by!
