Mixed Media Daisy Canvas – Wall Decor

September 20, 2017

Welcome, friends, to a brand new project. This is Piyanki here today. The ECD Design Teams are celebrating the season with home decor projects this month. I have created a beautiful canvas for you using the Gerbara Daisy from Susan’s Garden. I always enjoy using canvas boards because the surface is just right as a background for handcrafted flowers.

This time the canvas is partially covered with mixed media effects, a fitting backdrop for the bouquet.

Project Intructions

Step 1 – The canvas measures 7″x 3.5″. Adapt to a different size as you choose.

Step 2 – Apply a thin coat of white Gesso on the canvas. Air dry or heat set it.

Step 3 – Apply a thick coat of Texture Paste to the center area of the canvas with a palette knife and scribble lines and marks into it while it’s wet to create texture. Air dry or heat set it.

Step 4 – Spray a bit of water over the canvas and then randomly spray with watercolor or other paint mists. Heat set between colors and repeat till you like the effect.

Step 5 – Die cut enough pieces to make two Gerbera Daisies plus leaves from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Shade all pieces with inks or coloring medium of choice. (Shown: Plum Archival Ink for the flowers.)

Step 6 – Using Susan’s metal tool set and the molding mat, shape each all petals and leaves.

Step 7 – Assemble the flowers. Add some Prills to the center.

Step 8 – Use Multi Medium Matte to add some Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the canvas. Apply a bit more of the Medium and add some Prills, leaving the center area of the canvas free for the flowers and leaves.

Step 9 – Adhere the flowers and leaves at an angle toward the center of the canvas.

Step 10 – Die cut 2 pieces of White Soft Finish Cardstock using the Romantic Corner die set.  from the Romantic Corner die using soft finish card stock.

Step 11 – Adhere the decorative lace, using the smaller corner piece at the upper left, the larger piece at the bottom right.

Step 12 – Display on a small easel or add a picture hanger to the back of the canvas.

Great piece of art! Love it. I’ve been doing some of the multimedia cards and bottles. Really fun and you can really get creative with these.
