Hugs for Valentine’s Day

February 8, 2018

It’s Karen here.  Valentine’s Day is next week – a day of love!  Elizabeth Craft Designs has many wonderful products for Valentine’s Day (and every day).  Be sure to check them all out!  My card today will be sent to my parents who are away for the winter in a warm and sunny place.  Sending love is fun…

Here are the steps I used to make this card:

Step 1. From 100lb White Soft-Finish Cardstock, cut a rectangle measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″; score at 5.5″ and fold in half to create a top-fold card base.

Step 2. Using paper from the Simply Love 12×12 paper collection, die cut the following pieces:  One Lace Heart, one Berry Branch, one Stitched Rectangle. Also cut one 4″ x 5-1/4″ background piece.  Hint:  adding Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double-Sided Adhesive to the back of the patterned paper before die-cutting makes it much easier to adhere to the card.

Step 3. Adhere the Berry Branch, Lace Heart and Stitched Rectangle to the card front as shown in the photos below.

Step 4.  Die cut the word ‘Hugs’ from the Love Sentiments dies two times from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.  One time, die cut with adhesive on the front and back.  One time with adhesive on the back.  Layer them so the piece with adhesive on the front is on top as shown below.

Step 5. Remove the release sheet from the top of the word and cover with True Red Silk Microfine Glitter.  Tap off the excess and return it to the jar. Polish the glitter into the adhesive with your fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. Remove the release sheet from the back and adhere the word toward the top of the card.

Step 6. Stamp the flowers from the Laundry Party Clear Stamps and color with Copic markers.  (Colors used:  R24, R27, R29, Y00, Y02, Y26, G40, G43.)  Die cut with the Laundry Party Coordinating dies. Adhere to the card.

Step 7.  Add Red Nuvo Drops to the Berry Branch die.

Thank you for stopping by!

Craftily yours,
