Spring is so close I can almost feel it! And with spring comes the cherry blossoms. I live in Northern Virginia, quite close to DC where we have the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, but I admit that I have not been there in a while. I would love to go except I don’t like crowds and my little boys just aren’t that excited to go see flowers in bloom. Fortunately, there are plenty of cherry blossoms in the suburbs here but one of these days… This momma is going to get a picture of the family under the cherry blossoms again. I love pictures and that is how I collect moments in our family life. Christmas ornaments from where we go is another way. How do you collect the special moments in your life? So as you can see, the cherry blossoms inspire my card today. Please read on to see how I made it!
Step 1 – Create backgrounds of two different sizes with Distress Oxide Inks. Lucky Clover, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade were used on cardstock trimmed to 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. The larger background is 4 1/8″ by 5 3/8″ and uses Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. Sponge the pattern you see below.
Step 2 – Die cut flowers from Bunch of Flowers 4 set, stems from the Daisy die set Daisy and Garden Notes Gerbera Daisy for the floral portion. The stems become the branch for the flowers. For the sentiment, die cut two sets of alphabets from the Alphabet – CAPS die set, and A Way With Words Special ‘Moments’ out of white cardstock.
Step 3 – Before gluing anything down, arrange all the die cuts and then take a picture or make a tracing. This is especially helpful for reference when you go to glue them. 
Step 4 – The layout also provided me with an option to modify my original intention. I noticed my background needed a little more oomph so I sprayed water on there for a more dynamic look. I did like how the white popped was so I decided to sponge just the edges of the flowers. The “branches” were sponged with Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo.
Step 5 – Adhere all the parts onto a white A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) horizontal top-fold card base. Color some clear micro beads with a Copic R22 and glue them to the center of the flowers for a touch of pink.
Step 6 – Trim flowers and branch at the top and upper right edge as shown in the photo.
