Photo Christmas Card

August 15, 2018

Hello friends and welcome, it’s Sandy here with a fun project for you today.  Although it is hotter than blue blazes here in Arizona I have been thinking about the holiday season.  With all the great new dies from Joset’s recent release I just couldn’t stop thinking about Christmas and some cool snow flakes.   If you like to incorporate photos in your cards for the holidays I have just the thing for you and would you believe it folds down flat for mailing?

There are so many fun details to share – so let’s get started –

I started out thinking I would use this fabulous red snowflake paper from ModaScrap but once I selected my photo  I needed to change it to the blue from the White Christmas Collection pack so I would have more contrast.

Step 1 – die cut all pieces needed as described below:

  • Die cut two penguins and some snowflakes using the Penguins Die Set.
  • Die cut two hats using the Santa Claus Die Set.
  • Die cut one Snowflake Boarder – to extend the boarder see photo below.

  • Die cut some snow banks using the Adventure Edges die set.
  • Die cut two snowflakes using the Snowflakes die set – I used the small and medium.
  • Die cut some snowflakes using the Hot Chocolate die set.
  • Die cut Season’s Greeting using the Words 5 – Winter Wishes die set.
  • Die cut packages and bows using the Santa’s Sleigh die set.

  • Die cut one solid backing and one rectangle for picture frame using the Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Ovals die sets
  • Die cut one additional backing piece for stamping that will go on the back of the frame for your message.
  • Die cut three pieces using the Happy Frame XL and fold on all fold lines. Cut to 6.5″, cutting off the mitered corner.

Step 2 -Put Happy Frame together using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 3 – When you have the three frame sections assembled, add Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the outside bottom of two pieces and then stack them as shown in the photo below.  It is important to leave the top portion open to add the embellishments.

Step 4 – Now it is time for the fun part.  Assemble and add the embellishments.  I added some extenders to the bottom on some pieces to keep them from sinking to the bottom of the frame. (you can see that on the photo below on the frame and packages).

To flatten this card simply put your fingers on the front where the greeting is and gently push backward.

This will be an odd size but if you have an envelope punch board you could make a custom envelope or simply use a larger envelope from the stationary store (a little stamping makes them look great)

Thanks for joining me today and Happy Crafting,

Sandy
