Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. When I think of winter and snowflakes I think white and a shimmer of blue. I knew when I saw Joset Designs’ newly released Snowflakes Die set that I had to make a glittery White/Blue Snowflake Card. Below are the steps to replicate it.
Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side-fold card base. (A2)
Step 2 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Randomly stamp snowflakes from the Cute Winter Sentiments and Classic Christmas Sentiments sets (all of the snowflake stamps) with blue ink to fill the cardstock. (Shown: Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink). Die cut with Dashing Rectangles die just slightly smaller than cardstock to create the snowflake-filled background. Set it aside for now.
Step 3 – Die cut Snowflake from Blue Shimmer Sheetz (for the solid silhouette shape) and White Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet on top (the detailed overlay). *Reminder: A Metal Adaptor Plate or Big Shot Machine with Precision base plate is REQUIRED for die cutting Shimmer Sheetz. Review Els van de Burgt’s YouTube tutorial if you are new to this technique.
Carefully remove the release sheet from the die cut overlay and sprinkle with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Use a soft brush to remove excess glitter; return to the jar. Use a fingertip in a circular motion to gently but firmly polish the glitter into the adhesive and bring out the maximum sparkle, taking care not to rub too hard so the detailed snowflake won’t tear. Adhere to the Shimmer Sheetz snowflake using tiny dabs of gem glue or small snippets of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Refer to the project photo.
(Tip: Shimmer Sheetz is available in blue metallic, blue iridescent and turquoise gemstone, providing three different choices for the snowflake.)
Step 4 – Die cut the same large solid (silhoutte) snowflake shape from the stamped background created in step 2, making sure to center the opening. Adhere the snowflake background to the card front, then inlay and adhere the Shimmer Sheetz and glittered snowflake in the opening. It will fit perfectly like a puzzle piece.
Step 5 – Die cut Stitched Fishtail Banners Die from White Soft Finish Cardstock. On a scrap piece of cardstock apply Distress Oxide Ink Faded Jeans using an ink applicator. Die cut “let it snow” from the inked cardstock. Adhere words to the banner using tiny dabs of Kids Choice Glue. Adhere banner to the card front using foam tape to add dimension.
This card can be used for any occasion by changing the image, colors and sentiment. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
