Glorious Sunflowers

September 11, 2018

Hi Everyone, Christine here. It is my turn to post.  Since summer is winding down and the sunflowers are blooming here in Maine. I have decided to use Susan’s Garden Notes Sunflower 2 for my project.  Sunflowers are such happy flowers – who doesn’t love them!

Here is how I created my card.

Step 1 – Choose a photo for the circle opening in the card front. Print onto white Soft Finish Cardstock.  (Photo shown: Sunflowers growing in my garden.)

Step 2 – Die cut Garden Notes Eucalyptus from light green cardstock. Shade with Distress Ink; shape using leaf tool  from Garden Notes All Metal 4 pc  Tool Kit and Leaf Pad.  Using White Nuvo Crystal Drops, add berries. Set aside to dry. Once dry add berries to back side so they are full spheres. Set aside to dry.

Step 3 – Die cut Garden Notes Leafy Berry Branch from a medium green cardstock.  Using medium ball tool from Garden Notes All Metal 4 pc Tool Kit and Molding Mat shape the leaves.  Shade using Distress Ink.  Add yellow berries using Mustard Nuvo Crystal Drops; set aside to dry. Repeat for back side.

Step 4 – Form 6″ X 6″ card base from White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 5 – Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock  5-3/4″ X 5-3/4″ .  Using 4th largest die from Garden Notes Frame it Stiched Circles cut opening 1/2″ – 3/4″ down from top and in from the right edge.

Step 6 – Place photo you have printed behind opening positioning where you want it then trim away excess making sure it is larger than opening.  Adhere to back of opening using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Adhere the panel to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 7 – Die cut 2 mugs using the Summer Drink die set from clear sticker paper (when cutting mug place handle off paper as you do not need it).  Option: Instead of the mug, use Garden Notes Canning Jar with Lid – but it is a bit larger so you would need to adjust your card size a bit.  On one mug use blue alcohol marker to create the look of water. Adhere the clear mug on top of the one that was colored.

Step 8 – From White Soft Finish Cardstock die cut the following: Garden Notes Ivy Vine and 3 Garden Notes Sunflower 2 (leaves, stems and tiny center flowers cut from colored cardstock).  Using alcohol markers of your choice, color flowers and ivy vine.  Shape using Garden Notes All Metal 4 pc Tool Kit, Molding Pad and Leaf Pad.

Step 9 – Die cut happy birthday twice from black cardstock backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive prior to die cutting using the Words 1 – Celebration die set. Adhere one on top of the other to add dimension.

Step 10 – Assemble the card front: Remove backing from mug. Place stems down through opening adhering to back of mug.  Add narrow strips of dimensional tape on back of couple of stems then adhere mug to card front.  Adhere Eucalyptus to  opening using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 11 – Build flowers on card using Kids Choice Glue.  Add pieces of Ivy Vine and Leafy Berry Branch that has been cut apart into smaller pieces as needed. Adhere with Kids Choice Glue.

Step 12 – Add ‘happy birthday’ sentiment as shown. Add the photo to the open area on the card front.

Hope that this card has put a smile on your face and inspires you to create your own.

Until next time – Happy Crafting!

Christine
