A Way With Words Soft Finish Cardstock

Christmas Luminary

October 17, 2018

Hello friends – it’s Sandy back with you to share a fast and easy project that will add fun and sparkle to your holidays.  Yes, the holiday season will soon be upon us, whether we are ready or not.  We like to entertain and especially during the holidays.  I’ve made these fun little luminaries to decorate my dinner table and to use as place markers.  They are blank at the moment but as soon as my guest list is final I will add names using a label maker or typing and printing them from my computer.  The battery-operated candles last for a few hours so turn them on just before your guests arrive and they will last through dinner.

Let’s get started –

Step 1:  Using the Gable Box die set, cut 4 boxes from 100# White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 2:  Crease on all crease marks.

Step 3:  Using the next to the smallest square from the Garden Notes – Frame It/Stitched Squares – cut a window in the two sections that have the heart on the top tab.

Step 4:  Using the Flourished Christmas Minis die set – cut two reindeer and two Ho Ho Ho’s.

Step 5:  Using the Snowflake die set – cut two small snowflakes.

Step 6:  Using the Fitted Stars die set – cut two stars by nesting the smallest one with the next size up (cut both together in one pass through the machine to create stars with open centers).

Step 7:  Cut eight vellum squares measuring 1.75″ x 1.75″ for the windows (two per luminary).

Step 8:  Glue vellum windows in place.

Step 9:  Place die cuts as shown.

Step 10:  Add Double Sided Adhesive tape to the tab on the side and one of the squares beneath the window.

Step 11:  Assemble box leaving the top open for the battery-operated candle (or some treats if you prefer to use as gift boxes instead!).

The great thing about these are that they can be prepared well ahead of time; later, simply add the name or some Christmas goodies.

Thanks for joining me today,

S@ndy
