Non Traditional Color Holiday Card

December 30, 2018

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here and this will be my last post for 2018. I want to wish you all Happy Holidays and see you again in 2019. By now Christmas has passed but I am sure you are still having parties or visiting friends and family. I have a super easy and fun card to share with you for those last minute unexpected holidays cards. It uses the Snowflakes and Winter Bears Clear Stamps by Krista Schneider and the Polar Bear from Joset’s Designs. Here are instructions so you can make your own Non Traditional Color Holiday Card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ to create a vertical side fold card.

Step 2 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Apply Distress Oxide Inks in 3 colors using an ink applicator. I used Seedless Preserves, Tattered Rose, and Antique Linen. I sprayed some water onto the background and picked it up using a Microfiber Cloth. This will create some droplets onto your background. Let dry before moving on to Step 3.

Step 3 – Apply anti static powder to your background created from Step 2. Stamp Snowflakes and Winter Bears (Snowflake images only) onto the background using Versamark Ink. Sprinkle Silver Embossing Powder and remove the excess. Heat set it with a heat tool. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape with darkest color on the bottom.

Step 4 – On a scrap piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock apply Distress Oxide in strips using the same 3 colors used in Step 2. Diecut Stitched Fishtail Banners with the darkest color on top. Stamp Classic Christmas sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 5 – Die cut Polar Bear using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink various colors onto a scrap piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. I used Distress Oxide Seedless Preserves for the hat trims, Tattered Rose for the Solid Paw, Victorian Velvet for inner ear and Black for the nose and eyes. Assemble the Polar Bear using Kid’s Choice Glue. Don’t forget to use a fine tip marker in black to draw the mouth. Adhere to card over the right edge of the sentiment using Foam Tape.

This card can be used for any occasion by changing the images, character die, colors and sentiment. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day. Happy New Year!!!

Love the examples. We are so use to the traditional colors. I recently bought a huge pad of paper for a friend and now she doesn’t want it so I have much paper in non traditional colors much like yours with pinks and pastels. Now to us it 🙂 thanks for the inspiration. XOXO Wendy in Canada

I love the card. The colors are beautiful. And you’re using my favorite die this season – the adorable polar bear. Thanks so much for sharing.
