Hey Friends! It is EK, and I am sneaking in today to share a spring-inspired card with you.
There are two ideas I always seem to connect to the beginning of spring: new life and rainbows. It always seems that when the trees start blooming buds once again, all over you see pictures of baby farm animals. Additionally, spring is the seasons of rain showers and rainbows, both of which help feed the blooming earth. So today I thought it might be fun to combine the two ideas into one spring themed card. Needless to say, I created a baby chick rainbow card.
Check out my step-by-step tutorial below:
Step One: Die cut baby chick parts seven times, using the White Soft Finish Cardstock and the Little Chick die set.
Step Two: Color the chicks in rainbow colors using alcohol markers. I used R20, R22, R24 copics for the red, YR00, YR02, YR04 for the orange, Y11, Y13, Y17 for the yellow, G40, G42, and G46 for the green, B91, B93, and B95 for the blue, V22, V25, and V28 for the violet, and RV91, RV93, and R95 for the purple.
Adhere the wings to the bodies using Kids Choice Glue.
Step Three: Color the legs and beaks with alcohol makers. I used YR21 and YR24 copics. Color the eyes. I used W6 copics.
Adhere the legs, beaks, and eyes to the chicks.
Step Four: Trim a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches and score and fold it to make a 6 inch card frame. Die cut a piece of Pale Peach Soft Finish Cardstock with the largest Dashing Squares die set.
Step Five: Blend Dried Marigold Distress Oxide ink onto the peach cardstock over the Earth & Sky stencil to create a soft sky background.
Adhere the peach cardstock to the card frame with some 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere the chicks in rainbow color in a rainbow arch using Kids Choice Glue.
Step Six: Add a sentiment from the Spring Sentiments stamp set. Stamp it once with Dried Marigold Distress Oxide and again slightly shift with Carved Pumpkin.
It really might just be me, but I adore how this card came out. I think if is a really fun approach to the spring season.

Oh So Adoravle and Cute EK!!!!!! You just gave me an idea on how to incorporate your “rainbow” chickies onto Spring Favor Boxes for Spring Event Will try using Pan Pastels and Perfect Pearls with Clear Spray to “seal” to avoid “smearing”. Great Job! Well Done EK! Mahalo for the Inspiration! (HUGS)
