Whimsically Kind

Hi friends! Today I am sharing a card using the Fun Flourishes Stamp Set from the Art Journal Collection. I absolutely love how cute and whimsical these flowers are and the accompanying images in this stamp set are so fun!

Step 1: I added several different pigment powders to a piece of watercolour paper and spritzed with water. I allowed that to dry mostly on its own and then hit it with a heat tool in the end in the finished product.

Step 2 & 3: Once it was all dry, I stamped out the flower image several times and then fussy cut them all out. These flowers aren’t too involved, so for someone like myself that is not a fan of handcutting, these were relatively easy.

Once dry, the colour of the pigments did fade a bit, so I went back in and added a bit more colour to add that vibrancy back to them.

Step 4: For the background I stamped one of the wreath images in black ink towards the right side of the cardstock, as that is where I wanted to concentrate having my images. I feel like off center is a bit more pleasing to the eye than right in the center. Then I added a few lines of the bubbles coming from the top and bottom of the wreath. I did mask off parts of it using post it notes, as I wanted it to appear as if it was coming out the circle, but not overlapping it. Be sure to remove the post its before you stamp your image or you will have the ink from the mask on your cardstock.

Step 5: Cut cardstock to 3.75″x5″. Next add some flecks of colour using the same colours as I did for the flowers to keep the look cohesive. The one on the right is the image pictured just above and the stamped images are much more crisp. The one on the left was one I did when I was just kind of doing trial and error to see if I liked it all together. And tbh, although I do like the crispness of the second one better, I went a wee bit overboard with the flecks of colour…oops.

Step 6: To finish the card I added a strip of patterned paper to the side and heat embossed in white on black cardstock the word Kindness from the Kindness Stamp Set and used the co-ordinating die set to cut it out. Arrange the 3 flowers around one side of the wreath and add the sentiment. Pop it all up on a white A2 cardbase using some clear double sided adhesive to a piece of craft foam and add a few black iridescent pearls.

Step 7: I did also add a very thin black border around it, to add that last little bit of definition. I decided it in the end that I wanted/it needed it (and when it was all done and put together), so I went around the edge of it with a black sharpie. I had all of my fingers and toes crossed that I didn’t make a mistake and get any on the finished and trimmed cardstock.
