A Way with Words Holiday Home Decorating

Hi there!  It’s Suzanne Cannon here today with a little project which started out as a happy discovery – free-standing words and sentiments!  I had layered two Season’s Greetings die cuts and for some reason I wondered if I could hinge them.  It worked!  The Season’s Greetings die cuts work very nicely because the bottom is almost even.  Unfortunately this year’s version of Merry Christmas won’t work with this technique because the bottom flourish is almost pointed.  Maybe next year….!

I can see these all over the dinner table, maybe used like place cards, or on the mantle along with your other favorite holiday decorations. How about popping them on the window sill or nestling them on the petals of your poinsettia?  They’re so quick and easy to make, you could add them to each of the Christmas cards you send out too.

Instructions:

  1. Die cut Season’s Greetings twice.

2. Choose the die cut which will be the back and score it straight across the top flourishes about 1/2” from the top. Don’t score into the lettered area.

3.  Apply glue to the scored die cut. Use glue to have a bit of open time in order to align the diecuts perfectly.  Don’t glue below the score line. Adhere the two die cuts.

4. Embellish the top die cut if desired. To create the sample below, apply Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to cardstock, die cut Season’s Greetings and Elizabeth Craft Designs’ small Snowflake, apply Silk Microfine Glitter to the diecuts, then assemble with the back diecut as shown.

5. Spread the bottoms of the adhered die cuts and scatter them around the house! Quietfire_Home_Dec_8

The possibilities are endless! Where would you place these sweet additions? Maybe you could give me ideas in the comment box below?

Thanks for having a look.  Happy creating! Suzanne

    Ronnie

I would put them on the plates around the dinner table, as you would name tags, also in the guest bathroom and the guest bedrooms.

I can see leaving them on a child’s desk or dresser for encouragement before a test or try-outs etc. The “Believe” die would be perfect. Or, how about “Thanks” on an office mates desk for something they did?

I have the Merry Christmas die and it cuts so beautifully. The pieces come right out without needing a nudge. I love this. You make the best dies.
