Mixed Media Christmas Card

Hello, my crafty friends. Marla here, sharing a mixed media Christmas card. Over the past few months, I have shared several cards using the Beautiful Blooms “Peace” stamp and die set. I can’t get enough of this beautiful cardinal. Don’t you love stamps that you can use over and over and never tire of them? This card is packed with a lot of layers, so let’s jump right in.

1. Stamp and die cut the cardinal from the ECD Beautiful Blooms “Peace” stamp set onto watercolor cardstock. 2. Color with Distress Watercolor pencils in “Candied Apple and Barn Door”.

3. Sprinkle “Evergreen Emerald and Mountain Meadow Green” Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Magical” powders onto watercolor cardstock. Spritz with water to move the powder and dry.

4. Splatter the panel with more water to add a water droplet pattern. Die cut four pieces of holly using the die from ECD “Winter Greens”.

5. Cut another piece of watercolor cardstock to 8.25 x 3.25 inches. Spritz the cardstock with water and add “Rudolph’s Nose Red” Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Magical” powder. Spritzed again with water and heat set.

6. Use a text stamp and black waterproof ink and stamp onto the background. Then add gold watercolor paint around the edges of the panel and splatter more gold paint onto the background.

7. Add texture with “Grit Paste” and a stencil from ECD “Happy Pattern”. Sprinkle “Candied Apple” Embossing Glaze over top of the “Grit Paste.” Once the paste has dried heat set the Embossing Glaze.

8. Adhere the panel to black cardstock cut an 1/8″ larger than the 8.25 x 3.25 mixed media background and add to a cardbase.

9. Arrange the holly and the cardinal in two corners. Die cut and color red berries using the ECD “Florals 12” die and add clear “Morning Dew” Nuvo drops for dimension and shine.

10. Build two small flowers with the ECD “Florals 14” die and glitter cardstock. Add a small black enamel dot to the center. Add the flowers to the holly.

11. Finish the card with a large die cut sentiment of your choice.

Cardmaking Paper Flowers Planner Essentials

Be Authentic

Good Morning Creative Friends, it is Karan Gerber here to share a project with you today. This time i am sharing a card with you using one of my most favorite Floral dies, Florals 6.

 I have put together a card using florals 6, the beautiful leaves from Planner Essentials 55 and Stitched Rectangles. I cut 3 of each of the flowers small medium and large so i could get a very full flower At this point i wasnt sure just how many i would use to create my flowers, on this card, my favorite, is a peony.

 

To achieve the look on the florals, i used distress sprays and patina alcohol ink. I first colored parts of the florals with peacock feather distress ink. and used peeled paint distress ink on the leaves. 
I also added some snow paste on them to add some texture.

 I used Dragons eye Spark paint from prima on the leaves form the planner essentials set.

Pop Up Aga Card

Hello everyone Jackie here today. I thought I would do a tutorial on the pop up aga card as it did seem to be quite popular. I have included quite a lot of steps in hope that you can understand the process, so let’s get started.

Step One:

Die cut four cooker pieces and glue two pieces together. trim the other two die cuts at the embossed line shown on the photo below and glue the two smaller leg parts together. Doubling up like this makes the end project most sturdy.

Step Two:

Trim a panel measuring 10.5 x 2″ then score at 1/2, 3.5, 5.5, and 8.5. as shown in the photo below.

Step Three:

Fold up the panel at the score lines and glue at the 1/2 ” tab to create a square shape.

Step Four:

Die cut the tiled back piece into white card then again into black card. fussy cut out the tiles from the black piece and glue onto the white tiled panel.

Step Five:

Trim another blue panel measuring 4 x 3″ glue the black and white tiled piece to one end then fix the other end inside the prepared cooker base.

Step Six:

Next create the inner sections. Trim two strips of blue card approximately 5 x 1″ then fold each end at approximately 1/2″ in the opposite directions creating a Z shape. Tip: you will need to try the strip up against the cooker base to see if it fits correctly. Once the Z strips are in place fold the cooker base in each direction to make sure it folds flat easily.

Step Seven:

Glue the cooker front in place followed by the back legs, wiggle these in place whilst the glue is still wet.

Step Eight:

To make the cooker hobs, die cut four of the snow Christmas tree parts from the die set – sweater season 1997.

Step Nine:

Die cut the Santa sack from die set 1990 Santa Clause, die cut two of the sack handles and one sack, ink the pieces up with brown ink then build into a turkey shape as shown in the photo. Fix a tiny Z of folded card the very bottom of the turkey and use this to attach the turkey to the cooker.

Step Ten:

Glue all the remaining pieces in place, here you can add whatever you like from the other sets. I have added the cake from set – let’s bake 1994.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that I have inspired you to have a go at making a 3d Aga, you could also use this technic with other dies in the ECD collection.

Merry Christmas

Hello everyone, Alice here! Today it’s my turn to show you a creation. This time not a Halloween creation, but a Christmas card. I used dies from the new Cozy and Warm collection that were just released last week at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

For this card I used the Holiday Stocking die and an older background die from last year. I made a shaker card with it.

First I made a tray for the shaker material. I made this piece exactly the same size as the background die. In the tray I put the shaker material using different types of products. I like to mix the different types of shaker materials.

To close the shaker part I die cut one slimline background from white cardstock and adhered this piece on top. I really love this background die. He is a great fit for this card.

After I made the Holiday Stocking. For this I used colored cardstock in the same colors as the shaker material. To finish the stocking I added little Christmas Bells that I attached with some small pieces of hemp cord. Now they jingle like a Christmas sound.

On top of the card I made a banner with the text Merry Christmas. This is a sentiment from the Holiday Treats stamp set. I stamped the sentiment with the new distress color lumberjack plaid and on top of that I used distress glaze to finish.

Lastly I backed my shaker with a decorated piece of patterned paper and white cardstock in the same colors at the stocking and shaker material. Now your card is Finished!

Planner Essentials

During the Retreat last October 1st and 2nd, Esther and I gave a workshop with a very extensive page where you can process a lot of photos and journaling. In this blog post I want to show you that you can also do that in other ways. After a very pleasant trip with my daughter, I had a lot of pictures of the Safari Park in Hilvarenbeek. What a fun outing that is! Of course this had to be recorded in my planner. But how? So many photos! So I came up with another “Flap page”.

That way it will be in my planner soon. For this page I used Esther’s new collection “for the record”. A true hit is this collection!!!

With a whole tab page, file folders big and small, tabs, tickets Library pocket, too many to mention and so useful. Also for making cards or mini albums.

So the page is unfolded.

With filling.

And these tickets are all in it!

The backside. I could even put the map of the park in it!

The curved library pocket is in itself a super fun item to work with. Everything fits into your sidekick planner, except the tab page.

How to make this page:

For this page I used planner essentials 5 to create an extended page.

I folded it to the width of a normal page.

I made 2 tab pages where I stuck 3 mm double-sided tape along the edges of the tabs. Then I cut them off. The holes edge and the other side.

On the front and back I glued a tab page on the flap.

The flap prevents everything you put in it from sticking together. The side and bottom are also glued together.

Now your page will look like this. You can now fill it with nice file folders, tabs and tickets and whatever you like. Hopefully some inspiration for you.

Autumn is Calling

Hello everyone, Alice here! Today I wan’t to show you an autumn creation. Here in the Netherlands autumn has arrived. All the leaves are falling off the trees, such a beautiful time of year! So I made a card with this theme.

First I started to make a background. This time I made a background only with two colors off Distress Ink. I chose the colors Faded Jeans and Pumice Stone. On the bottom of the card you start with the Pumice stone. On the top of the card you take the Faded Jeans. In the middle you combine the two colors and then you have a lovely autumn background.

Then I made some trees. I used the trees that are from the mason jar die. Love those trees, they are really great to use for many projects. I’m not placing the trees on the bottom of the card but a little higher so it looks like a real forest. On the bottom I used some decoration to cover the stems of the trees.

After that I made the lovely mushroom. Perfect fit for this autumn theme card. I choose some paper that fits in the autumn colors. Normally I love intense colors, but that’s not fitting for this autumn theme.

Now I made the super cute gnomes. They are not only for the Christmas creations but are also cool for all sorts of cards. So I made a girl and a boy gnome so they can play together with the falling leaves in front of the mushroom house.

To make the card complete, I added the sentiment “leaves are falling, autumn is calling”. So fitting for this card. In front of the gnomes I added some falling leaves.

Merry little baker

Hey there. Jackie here today with my first Christmas themed blog post of the year! These brand-new baking themed die sets are so adorable and what’s more they are not just for Christmas!! I can see these being really useful all year round.

Step One:

Start with a 5.25×5.25″ top folding card blank, blend some ink in the centre using squeezed lemonade distress oxide and an ink blending tool. Then mark out a gridded pattern over the top using the tile die and a black thin line marker pen. Leave a few of the outer square’s half lined.

Step Two:

Colour in the tiles using a yellow pen. You don’t have to be too careful here, colouring quite rough will add texture.

Step Three:

Ink around the edges of the die cut table using brown ink and attach to the card front toward the right-hand side.

Step Four:

Die cut the cake and add a line of jam before adding the icing top. Create the tiny Christmas tree by die cutting the larger tree then fussy cutting the two corners off as shown in the photo. glue these together then add a tiny die cut cookie for the tree trunk.

Step Five:

Die cut and build the baker girl along with a bowl of red jam.

Step Six:

Fix all the die cuts in place, add a thin black line all around the card edge then finish off with a white heat embossed sentiment.

Tis the Season

Hello, Marla here with another Christmas card featuring ECD Beautiful Blooms “Noel” stamps and dies. I love the greenery in this stamp set and chose the large mistletoe as the focal point for this card. Instead of the traditional hanging mistletoe, I took a different approach and used it in my potted plant. Let’s get started.

I began by stamping and coloring my mistletoe and pine branches using Copic markers. Next I added “Diamond” stickles to the pine branches and Nuvo “Morning Dew” clear drops to the berries on the mistletoe and then set it aside to dry.

Next, on a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of white cardstock I used the “Merry Christmas” sentiment and red ink to repeat stamp the sentiment. I added foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered it to an A2 red card base. Then I cut a 2″ x 4″ piece of red polka dot patterned paper and adhered it horizontally to the center of the layered card panel.

Moving on to the container I die cut the “Flower Pot/Bucket” from silver metallic cardstock and added “Black Soot” Distress Ink to give it a weathered look. I wrapped a thin ribbon around the center of the pot and added a bow and small tag. After inserting the mistletoe and pine branches, I added foam tape to the back and adhered it to my card panel.

To finish the card, I cut a piece of white cardstock using the “Leave the Doily” die. I cut it in half and adhered each half to the right and left sides of the potted plant. For more sparkle I added dots of red Stickles .

Inspiration from the Design Team Planner Essentials Scrapbooking Stamping

For The Record – Family Mini Album

Hello Creative Friends and welcome to the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today. It is Karan Gerber here to share a mini album project with you designed using the newest release For The Record.

i instantly wanted to create a mini album with it. I used the all of the new release dies, except one and the stamps too. For the cover, I cut one of large file pages in half to create a tab page.  All i did to do that, was to cut of a 3/4: piece off the left side, and line up the holes and punched it with a crop o dile. The cover was done that way and I used the Alphabet Tabs to create a title adding vellum to the back. 

Above is the inside front cover and view of the first page. I used the Curved Library Pocket using the cut out in the front and covering that with vellum. 

I also stamped some mini tabs from the Filler cards and tucked those in the pocket, I used the filler cards throughout the mini. 
I added in some vellum pages using some rub ons from 49 and Market, they look fab on the vellum and what a great way to add some elegance to a little mini.

I used some of the filler cards here and stamped a couple of them too

On this page i used the filler cards again and the alphabet tab, and i used the negative, dont throw those out, you can use those letters

I hope you enjoy my project share today, and give the new “For The Record” a try and create some mini albums of your own. These would make a perfect stocking stuffer too.

Autumn leaves

Hello all Jackie here. Today I have created something a little different! Sometimes the smallest dies we get in a die set can get overlooked, I have used just the leaves from die set – Turkey 1905 to make my own chip board pieces which give this design a lot of texture. Let’s get started.

Step One:

Cover the front of an A2 top folding card blank with dark brown textured card.

Step Two:

Die cut the leaves into various autumnal shades of coloured card. Die cut enough to stack four of the same leaf together gluing each leaf as you go, this will create a solid chip board like piece.

Step Three:

Ink around the edge of each leaf, I have used distress inks but whatever you have in your stash will work just as well.

Step Four:

Cut a panel of white card to 5.5″x3″ arrange all the leaves onto the panel, then when you are happy with the lay out glue each one in place. Trim the overhanging leaves with a craft knife and ruler as they are a bit too tough for scissors. – If you do not have a craft knife then trim the leaves before gluing them together.

Step Five:

Die cut the scalloped edge from the planner set – Planner Essentials 27 Retro Number Trio. I know it’s not really an edge die but I love the look of this scallop. Trim the scallop edge to fit the panel.

Cut a strip of gold foil card then glue this to the reverse side of the prepared leaf panel leaving approximately 1/8″ showing at the side then fix the scalloped edge underneath.

Step Six:

Tear a small strip of vellum measuring 5/8″ then trim both ends to measure 3″ across. Stamp out and gold emboss the sentiment on to a strip of dark brown card measuring approximately 4″x1/2″ fold this around the piece of vellum and fix in place with double sided tape.

Step Seven:

Attach the leaf panel to the card front using 3d foam pads then finish off by fixing the sentiment in place.

Thats my card for today. Although I do love to stack die cuts you could just cut the leaves once and use foam pads to raise them up or even fix them flat to the panel, whichever way I hope I have inspired you to look through your dies and see what you can do with the smallest ones.
