Peace & Joy

November 23, 2014

IMG_1478-1Hello Everyone. Jackie here with today’s post. I’m back with another Christmas card using my favourite colors – white and gold. I love the new Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape Rolls and Sheets from Elizabeth Craft Designs. In addition to being transparent (and just perfect for Silk Microfine Glitter techniques), it’s also nice and thin with a thin release sheet that makes it ideal for die cutting with ECD’s intricate dies. I used it on striped vellum and it didn’t show through!

Instructions:

1. Create card base from white cardstock. Cut 10″x 17″ rectangle; score and fold in half
(5″x 7″ finished card size).

2. Cut cream paper 4″x 4 3/4″. Emboss with Pinecones embossing folder then Sponge with Gold ink. Adhere with ECD Transparent Double Sided Adhesive onto bottom of base card.IMG_1463-1

3. Cut gold paper 4″x 4 3/4″. Emboss with Sprigs embossing folder. Sponge with gold ink. Adhere with ECD Transparent Double Sided Adhesive at the top of card base. Make sure it slightly overlaps with the white paper from step 2. IMG_1465-1
IMG_1464-1

4. Add Transparent/Silver Glitter Border Peel-Off where the 2 papers meet.

5. Cut striped vellum 3 3/4″ x 6 3/4″. Adhere with ECD Transparent Double Sided Adhesive as shown.

6. Apply Transparent Double Sided Adhesive to white cardstock. Die cut “Sprig” twice,
“Round Ornament”, “Joy” and “Peace”. Cover Sprigs with a mixture of  3 Silk Microfine Glitters. Sprinkle Solar Gold Glitter over Ornament. Sprinkle Antique Gold over Joy and Peace. Burnish glitter with finger. Tip: Keep any glitter that has an accidental mixture of colors in a spare jar to use for other projects. Label the jar “Debris” or “Mystery Combo” and add to it whenever you’ve got colors that can’t go back into the original jars.

IMG_1450-1

IMG_1469-1

7. Add Gold Christmas Ornaments Round Peel-Off to Gold glitter ornament. Adhere to card front as shown. Add Transparent/Silver Glitter Border Peel-Off to top of ornament.
Decorate ornament with Transparent/Gold Glitter Dot Peel-Offs. Adhere Sprigs as shown. Add Transparent/Gold Glitter Stars Peel-Offs to striped vellum. Add Peace and Joy sentiments and a bow and your card is finished!.

Hi, Jackie Smith here. When I saw the new Seashells and Lighthouse Peel-Offs, I immediately thought of doing a shaker card. It’s really easy using the Ring Accordion die by Karen Burniston.

Instructions:

1. Create card base using blue cardstock. Cut 6″x 11″ rectangle; score and fold in half (left-fold card is 5.5″x 6″)

2. Cut light cream patterned paper 5 1/4″x 5 3/4″. Cut blue swirl patterned paper 5″x 5 1/2″ and adhere to cream paper using Double-sided Adhesive. Cut cream seashell patterned paper 4 3/4″x 5 1/4″ again adhere to blue swirl paper.  Cut out circle using Ring Accordion die using blue dot paper and a piece of acetate.

IMG_1381-1

3. Black Place black Seashell Peel-offs and black Lighthouses Peel-Offs  onto white cardstock with double sided adhesive on top. Cover Peel-offs with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish glitter with your finger. Use a brush to brush off the excess glitter. Follow Els’ step by step instructions for this technique HEREIMG_1386-1IMG_1394-1

To assemble the shaker card

4. Trim off the long side tab and cut out the center circle. Trim the acetate to fit inside the circle frame and adhere using Double-sided Adhesive. Cut waves out using Outdoor Edges using blue paper as shown. This will be adhered to the top part of the circle in the shaker card. To make the sand, mix a drop of Distress Re-inker in Frayed Burlap with some Silk Microfine Glitter in Warm Diamond. Set aside any extra for another beach theme project. Apply Double-sided Adhesive to bottom of circle, then pat down the sand. Let it dry. Add the glittered fish peel-off to the circle just above the sand as shown.
IMG_1378-1

5. Apply foam tape around the Ring Accordion edge and apply over the circle, leaving a little hole at the top to add blue beads. Add netting before apply to the card base.

6. Add Seashell, rope, crab, seagull and lighthouse as shown. Add Transparent/Gold Glitter Dots for bubbles.

IMG_1406-1

IMG_1410-1

7. Stamp sentiment onto white cardstock using Pool Pigment Ink. Cut around the sentiment with a circle die. Die cut a blue cardstock scallop edge circle. Adhere scallop edge circle to card. Top it with the sentiment using pop dots for dimension. TIP: There are circle and scallop edge circle dies in the Circle Accordion and Ring Accordion die sets by Karen Burniston – pick the sizes you like best.

Happy Birthday

October 19, 2014

DSC_0279-1-764x1024

Hi, Jackie Smith here. As an owner of a beloved pet, I am crazy about the new Puppies
Peel-Offs in the latest release from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I decided to make a Happy Birthday card for other fellow dog lovers.

Instructions:

1. Create card base from aqua colored cardstock. Cut 7″x 10″ rectangle; score and fold in half (5″x 7″ finished card size)

2. Cut light blue paper 4 3/4″x 6 3/4″ and adhere to card front using double-sided adhesive. Cut light brown paper 41/2″x 6 1/2″ and adhere on top of the blue paper again using double-sided adhesive.

3. Cut one accordion panel from blue paper using the Katie Label Accordion. Trim off the long side tab and cut out the center label. Adhere frame and label to card front as shown in the picture at the beginning of this blog post.

DSC_0289-1

4. Place black Puppies Peel-offs, black Gifts Peel-Offs as well as the black Balloons Peel-Offs onto white cardstock with double sided adhesive on top. Cover Peel-offs with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish glitter with your finger. Use a brush to brush off the excess glitter. Follow Els’ step by step instructions for this technique HERE.IMG_1310-1

5. Color puppies, gifts and balloons as desired. I used Tombow Dual Brush Markers although they do require extra time to dry as they are water-based. Use alcohol-based markers instead of water-based markers if you prefer.DSC_0280-1

6. Die cut balloons from Light Green and Light Blue Velvet Adhesive plus die cut some balloons from Blue Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz (metal adaptor plate needed in the cutting “sandwich”  for cutting Shimmer Sheetz – cutting side of die facing the plate with Shimmer Sheetz in between). Mix and match as shown. Adhere to card front using double sided adhesive and pop dots.

7. Die cut Happy Birthday using Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper from Black Velvet Adhesive Sheet. Cut along the score line below the words, keeping the narrow bar below the letters.

DSC_0285-1

8. Add Turquoise/Silver Glitter Borders around the card. Use some of borders as string for the balloons. Adhere bow to the top of the frame.

Puppy Love

September 28, 2014

DSC_0251-1

Hi, Jackie Smith here. I fell in love with the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel-offs, especially the one called ‘Puppies’. My dog has been sick so I decided to do a card for her – she is like my kid. I had these papers on hand that coordinate well with the Peel-offs.

Instructions

1. Create card base from brown cardstock. Cut 5″x 11″ rectangle; score and fold in half.
In this card I’m using a double fold with an extra platform using the Lorna Label PopUp.
Place the Lorna Label on the fold line as shown by Karen Burniston in this video. Cut another rectangle 5 1/4″x 12″ for the backing card.

IMG_1312-1

2. To create a “back wall” and a “floor wall”, cut bone paper 6″x 6″ square twice. Place Lorna Label PopUp on the edge of paper and die cut PopUp insert. You will need your scissors to cut out the Lorna Label insert completely. Do this on both papers. Adhere one wall to the top of the inside of the card and one wall to the bottom part of the inside of the card. Karen explains this step in her video as well.

3. Cut dog word vellum paper 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to the top, just behind the PopUp. Cut burlap paper the same size and adhere to the bottom of the inside of the card.

4. Cut out trees, foliage and house using the Holiday House and All Seasons Tree dies. Emboss the roof part with Damask Embossing folder by Karen Burniston. Place all pieces using glue dots as shown.DSC_0248-1

5. Place black Puppies Peel-offs onto white cardstock with double sided adhesive on top. Cover Peel-offs with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish glitter with your finger. Use a brush to brush of the excess glitter. Follow Els’ step by step instructions for this technique here.

6. Color puppies as desired. I used Tombow Dual Brush Markers although they do require extra time to dry as they are water-based. Use alcohol-based markers instead of water-based markers if you prefer.

7. Cut out puppies. Place sitting puppy by the dog house on the inside. Save the standing puppy for the card front (step 9).

DSC_0239-1

8. Freehand cut a dog bone from the brown paper using scissors (or a craft knife and cutting mat). Add a name to the bone, spelled out in alphabet stickers. (Option: Use rubber stamps for the letters.)  Use double sided adhesive to adhere bone to the sign on the front of the dog house. Using pop dots for dimension, add dog paw prints toward the bottom right.

9. For the front of the card, cut bone paper 5 1/2″x 5 3/4″, red paper 5 1/4″x 5 1/2″ and word paper 5″x 5 1/4″. Layer and adhere using double sided adhesive. Adhere puppy, bone, dog paws and sign using pop dots as shown.

Asian Flowers

September 14, 2014

DSC_0198-1Hi Everyone, it’s Jackie with today’s post. I have this passion of collecting all these fine papers, especially the Asian ones. I think these papers go well with the Asian Vases and the Asian Signs Peel-offs.

Instructions:

1. Cut blue cardstock 7″x 10″ rectangle; score and fold in half to create card base.
(5″x 7″ side-fold).

2. Cut blue Asian paper 4 3/4″x 6 3/4″ and adhere to card front using double-sided adhesive. Cut blue swirl paper 4 1/2″x 6 1/2″ and adhere on top.

3. Place Asian Vase Peel-off onto turquoise patterned paper. Fill the spaces in the three flowers with the black negative pieces from the peel-off sheet. Cut out the Vase.

4. Cut one label from Blue Iris Shimmer Sheetz using the Katie Label Accordion die. Reminder: Use the Metal Adaptor Plate when die cutting Shimmer Sheetz. The cutting side of the die faces the metal plate with the Shimmer Sheetz inbetween. Emboss label using Swirly Curves folder. Highlight the pattern with black StazOn ink. (Note: There are two sides to the pattern – make sure to ink the side with the raised OUTLINES, not the raised SHAPES – Refer to the photo)

5. Adhere all pieces, including blue mesh, to card front. Use foam tape or dots for added dimension under the vase, flower branch, and label.

6. Add Asian Signs Peel-offs at the upper right to finish the card.

Merry Christmas

August 24, 2014

DSC_0185-1

Hi everyone, it’s Jackie here today. Did you know that Christmas Eve is only 4 months away? Since those 4 months can go by really quick, I thought another Christmas card was in order. For this card I used the Winter Birds and Holly Branch Peel-Off Sticker in combination with Silk Microfine Glitter. I hope you will enjoy today’s tutorial.

Instructions:

1. Create card base from brown cardstock. Cut 7″x 10″ rectangle; score and fold in half (5″x7″ finished card size).

2. Cut stripe paper 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″, cut green paper 4 1/4″x 6 1/4″, and cut brown script paper 4″x 6″. Adhere green paper to stripe paper and brown script paper to green paper using double sided adhesive. See picture at the top for placement. Wrap green ribbon over the right hand corner adhering the ends at the back of the stripe paper. Adhere bow on top, then  adhere paper layers to card base.

3. Place black birdhouse and black pine branch Peel-Offs onto white cardstock with double sided adhesive on top. Take off release sheet and place your stickers sticky side up onto the release sheet.

4. Take your white card and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the card stock. Turn your card so the release sheet is now on top.

5. Take off the release sheet and make sure not to touch the images on the adhesive.
Cover the adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish with your finger. Use a brush to brush off the excess glitter.

6. Color glittered birdhouse and pine branch Peel-offs with Tombow Dual Brush Markers. (Tombow markers are water-based and require extra time to dry, or speed the process by blotting with a paper towel.) Use alcohol-based markers instead of water-based markers if you prefer.

IMG_1200

7. Place double sided adhesive onto white cardstock. Take Sprig with Berries die and cut it out twice using the metal adapter plate to cut out intricate dies as shown by Els here

IMG_1193

8. After taking off the release paper, apply Leaf Green and Regal Green Silk Microfine Glitter together as a mixture and polish well with finger. Brush off excess glitter.DSC_0194-1

9. Cut Merry Christmas from Black Velvet Adhesive sheet and adhere as shown.

IMG_1203-1

Good Morning Everyone, It’s Jackie here. For today blog post I’m showing you these lovely Christmas Ornament Sceneries as well as Winter Bird Peel-Off stickers which fits perfectly with the new Ring Accordion designed by Karen Burniston.

Instructions:

1. Cut two accordion pages out of brown cardstock using the Ring Accordion die. Cut 4 scalloped edges for each circle accordion using blue paper as shown in the picture below. Adhere to accordion pages.

IMG_1201

2. Cut two more accordion pages using the same die out of blue patterned paper. We’re only going to use the two center circles so you can use a pieces of scrap paper if you have that laying around somewhere. Trim of all tabs.

3. Now it’s time to create the Winter Birds and Christmas Ornaments Sceneries. To create the ornaments, apply 1 Winter Bird Peel-off, 1 Christmas Ornament Sceneries Peel-off and 1 bow onto white cardstock that has Double-sided Adhesive applied to it. Take of release sheet of the Double-sided Adhesive and cover peel-offs with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish with your finger and brush of excess glitter. Color peel-offs with TomBow Dual Brush Markers. Once colored, cut out ornaments and bow.

IMG_1194

IMG_1200
4. Now assemble card as shown in the first picture at the top but don’t adhere the small side tab of the first center circle just yet. For more info on how to assemble the Accordion card, watch Karen Burniston’s video HERE.
IMG_1205
5. Take a Quickie Glue pen and add glue to the circle edge & scalloped edges, add Turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter to the inside circle and Deep Turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter to the scalloped edge as shown. Now attach the two center circles using a small piece of Double-sided Adhesive on the small site tab of the left center circle.
