Respect

March 18, 2022

Hi crafty friends, Michelle here! Today I am using the beautiful Respect Stamp Set and coordinating dies to make more of a simple card.

Step 1: Stamp both the smaller floral and sentiment in black ink. Colour the image using alcohol markers and add some small white detailed dots using a white gel pen.

Step 2: Die cut both images 2more times on plain white cardstock without stamping. This provides a bit more stability to them, rather than using foam adhesive. It is also easier when you have small delicate areas.

Step 3: Cut a piece of white cardstock to 3.75″x5″ and ink blend a half circle using Pumice Stone Distress Oxide Ink to the right center side of the cardstock. This can be done using a stencil or cutting a circle with masking paper. Without removing the mask, add some white splatters using watercolour paint or gouache. Be sure to also protect the exposed side of your cardstock, ensuring that the white splatters are only on the ink blended half circle.

Step 4: Once dry, adhere your card together using double sided tape and foam adhesive and add a few sequins. Add all of this to a top folding A2(4.25″x5.5″) sized cardbase.

Layer It Up

March 15, 2022

Hi, Marla here today. I don’t know about you, but I really love creating cards that have multiple layers. I like to layer ink, layer paper, layer stencils, layer, layer and layer. If you hadn’t guessed, today we are going to create layers on our card today with some very bold colors. Of course, you can choose your own colors to change the mood and make this card your own.

Step 1. Cut a rectangle to 3.75″ x 2.50″ and ink blend using several different colors.

Step 2. Use one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs “Happy Patterns” stencils, a pallet knife and a mixed media paste of your choice to create a pattern on top of the ink blended layer. Set it aside to dry.

Step 3. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 5.25″ x 4″. Blend ink and or sprays in matching colors onto the cardstock. Then use a different Elizabeth Craft Designs “Happy Patterns” stencil to add a pattern to your panel with more ink. Next, paint gold watercolor around the edges.

Step 4. Cut additional cardstock layers. Cut two pieces of black cardstock to 5.50″ x 4.25″ and 4.25″ x 3″. Cut a piece of gold glitter cardstock to 3.875″ x 2.625″. Finally, cut a piece of coordinating colored cardstock to 4.375″ x 3 1/8″

Step 5. Add anti-static powder to a piece of black cardstock. Stamp your image from the Elizabeth Craft Designs “Respect” stamp set using clear embossing ink. Add embossing powder over the image and melt the powder with a heat gun. Use the coordinating dies to cut out the stamped image.

Step 6. Adhere all of the card panels together, except the largest piece of black cardstock. Add foam tape to the back of the layered panels.

Step 7. Cut a piece of white seam binding and use one or two of the coordinating ink pads and water to dye the ribbon. Once dry, wrap the ribbon around the layered card panels and tie a bow. Attach the panel to the 4″ x 5.25″ piece of black cardstock.

Step 8. Adhere your heat embossed floral image to the top layer of the card.

Step 9. Finally, adhere your panel to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base.

Thank you so much for joining me today. Until next time…. Marla

Sunshine

February 18, 2022

Hi crafty friends…Michelle here with you today sharing a card using the beautiful sunflower from the Sunshine Stamp Set part of the Beautiful Blooms Collection. Let’s get to it, shall we?!

Step 1: Cut a piece of watercolour paper to 3.75″x5″. Add water to your cardstock using a clean paintbrush and then do a light water colour wash using 2 of the blue colours in the 24 Colour Watercolour Palette, being sure to allow layers to dry in between adding the next colour.

Step 2: While the watercolour piece is still a bit damp, place stencil from the Earth Patterns pack over and sprinkle on pigment powder. Remove the stencil and allow to dry. Because the background was still a bit damp and the powders did spread slightly, I did lose a bit of the pattern of the powder, but I was still happy with how it looked.

Step 3: Heat emboss the sunflower in black on the same watercolour paper, to keep the look uniform. Start to add colour to the flower, again using the 24 Colour Watercolour Palette, being to sure to allow your paint to dry inbetween layers of colour. Set aside and allow to dry.

Step 4 & 5: Once the flower is completely dry, cut it out using the coordinating die and cut out 3 more without the image. These will be used to stack for dimension. On the same watercolour paper heat emboss the sentiment using the black embossing powder and cut out 2 or 3 more blank sentiments to stack together as well. Add liquid adhesive and stack them together.

Step 6: Adhere the watercolour background using craft foam to the A2 top folding cardbase. Add the flower using a liquid adhesive and the sentiment as well, adding a few small foam squares to the both ends of the sentiment. Add a twine bow to the sunflower and a few iridescent bubbles as a finishing touch.

Thank you so very much for stopping by. I hope that this card has helped to inspire you in some way. I wish you all the most wonderful and crafty day! Until next time,

Custom Foiling

February 15, 2022

Hi, Marla here. I am so happy to be back with another ECD Blog post. Today, I am sharing this beautiful floral card. Once created, this card can easily sit in your card stash ready to use for several celebratory occasions. Let’s get crafty, shall we?

Step 1 Stamp out your images from the “Respect” stamp set using clear embossing ink onto watercolor paper and add white embossing powder. Melt the powder using your heat tool.

Step 2 Add watercolor to your embossed images and set aside to dry. I used a combination of blue, teal and green watercolors for my card.

Step 3 Use the coordinating dies to cut out your images adding foam tape to the back of the largest floral cluster.

Step 4 Cut a piece of white cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.50″. Position your cardstock in a vertical orientation. Using a grid mat and both ECD 0.25″ and 0.4″ “Clear Double-Sided Adhesive Tape” create a pattern horizontally, leaving white space between each piece of tape.

Step 5 Remove the adhesive backing one at a time and alternate the foil colors to coordinate with your watercolored images. Again, I used shades of blue, teal and green foil cut into strips for easy alignment.

Step 6 Trim 1/8″ off each side of your foiled panel for a finished layer that measures 4″ x 5.25″.

Step 7 Using the “Best Wishes” sentiment from the “For You” stamp set, mask off the “wishes” with tape and ink and the word “Best”, remove the tape and stamp. Repeat the process and stamp the word “wishes.” Trim the sentiments to fit on your card front.

Step 8 Assemble your card. Center and adhere your foiled card panel to a 4.25″ x 5.50″ top folding card base. Place the large floral with foam tape at an angle from the bottom left corner angling towards the top right. Tuck the smaller floral underneath the larger floral vertically. Add your sentiments and a few gems for more sparkle and shine and you are finished.

Thank you for taking time to view my post. I hope to see you back again soon. Until next time… Marla

Kindness Always Matters

January 30, 2022

Hi friends…Michelle here with my official post as part of the Elizabeth Crafts Design Ambassadors Team and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I decided to use the beautiful floral from the Kindness Stamp which is part of the Beautiful Blooms Collection for today.

Step 1: Stamp the flower outline and sentiment using black ink. Colour in the floral using your choice of alcohol markers. Use a stamp positioner if necessary, to ensure a good and clean impression.

Step 2: Cut out the sentiment and the flower using the coordinating dies either before or after you colour in the image. Without stamping the image, diecut 2 more of the flower, as these will be used to stack the 3 together for dimension.

Step 3 – Colour in the flower image using your choice of alcohol markers and add small dots to the coloured image using a white gel pen.

Step 4 – Place your chosen stencil (I used the Grid Pattern from the Earth Patterns Stencil Pack) and start to lightly and randomly ink blend over the stencil on a piece of white cardstock cut to 3.75″x5″.

Step 5 – Cut a random strip of black and white patterned paper and adhere to the left side of your stencilled cardstock and trim off any excess. Adhere 3 the flower diecuts together using a liquid adhesive and add foam adhesive to the back of the sentiment. Adhere all to your A2 cardbase using white craft foam.

I hope this has helped to inspire you and I wish you all a wonderful and craft day,

Two Cards Same Stamps

January 27, 2022

Hi, It’s Marla here with my first blog post as an Elizabeth Craft Designs Ambassador. Today, I am sharing two cards showing how you can achieve different looks using the same stamps. I’ll start with the more detailed of the two cards.

  1. Cut a panel using watercolor cardstock to 5 1/2″ x 3 1/2.” Wash the background with the watercolor of your choice. Once dry, add gold watercolor around the edges. Stamp the sentiment from the “Your Day” stamp set with clear embossing ink. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set. Add gold splatters using a watercolor brush.

2. Cut the next layer to 6″ x 4 3/16″ and run it through a crimper. Use gold watercolor to add paint across some of the raised lines to add interest.

3. Select a pattern from the “Worn Wood” paper pad and to 6 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. Distress all four sides of the paper using your scissors. Paint the edges with gold watercolor.

4. Stamp the largest floral image from the “Blossoms” stamp set onto a piece of watercolor paper using clear embossing ink. Add white embossing powder and heat set. Watercolor the flower using the colors of your choice. Use the coordinating dies to cut the image and splatter with gold watercolor. Cut the floral into three pieces adding 1/8″ foam tape to the back.

5. Adhere all three paper layers to a 5″x7″ card base.

6. Arrange the floral images around the sentiment and embellish with jewels.

My second card is very clean and simple.

1. Cut white cardstock to 8 5/8″ x 4 1/2″. Stamp the two smaller floral clusters from the “Blossom” stamps around the edges, changing the direction of your stamp and stamping off the edge.

2. Use clear embossing ink to stamp the sentiment from “Your Day” onto the center of the card panel. Add the embossing powder over the top and heat set.

3. Cut a piece of cardstock that coordinates with your floral stamping to 8 3/4″ x 4 9/16″ and adhere the stamped cardstock to the center.

4. Adhere to a card base.

Here is another look at both cards together. One with a vintage feel and the second clean and simple. Do you have a favorite?

Thank you for joining me today. I am looking forward to spending this next year with you here on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog. Until next time….. Marla
