Cabo Scrapbook Layouts

Karen here today. I love that we are starting to be able to travel again. My guy and I made a whirlwind trip to Cabo in Mexico, and it was glorious! I created a full-size planner page for my “Places I’ve Been” journal, and I created a similar Sidekick sized page for my journal about adventures my guy and I are having. So fun!

I used an older Reminiscence pack for the paper and started my regular sized Planner page by cutting a Planner Essentials 4 page base. On the “front”, I added some bubbles from the Water Creatures Stamps using some light silver embossing. I love the additional texture. Then, I also cut the Planner Essentials 24 frame. Els did a GREAT video about using this particular page that you can find – here. I added the sentiments from the Family Stamps and some lettering from the Planner Essentials 23 set to both the front and the back. (This fabulous set has three sizes of letters!) On the back of my page, I used the Fitted Circles to cut out the pictures of the gas station and the circle behind my picture. The sand dollar stamp is also from the Water Creatures Stamps and is stamped in Distress Oxide and fussy cut. Last, but never least, I added some reinforcements that came from a combination of the Reinforcement Variety Packs 1 and 2. As usual, I backed the paper with 101mm Double Sided Adhesive to make the letters and reinforcements stickers!

For the Sidekick sized pages, I started with a Sidekick Essentials 6 base. I cut a half Fitted Circle for the top (that I ran through a second time with the base from Sidekick Essentials 6 to get the top shape right!) and added some leaves from the Leaves and Branches dies. The rest of the products I mentioned are also listed above.

Pocket Cards

Karen here today with a few fun cards that I made recently using the Sealed Pocket die from the Art Journal line. How fun that these dies are so versatile that they can be used for journals, scrapbooks, cards and more! I added some florals to my cards as well!

I made three versions of this card. For this version, I colored the flowers with Wilted Violet Distress Ink and used the Florals 2 Dies with 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. The leaves in all my cards today are colored with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. The card base and the pocket are also 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock. I glued the pocket to the card front which is cut just shy of 4″ across and 5-1/4″ tall. Then it fit perfectly on a standard A2 vertical card base.

One can add a fun giftcard to the tag in the pocket. In my case, I also printed a sentiment and added some ribbon. So fun!

This version is cut with the Florals 5 Dies and is colored with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink.

And finally, this version is cut with the Florals 3 Dies and is colored with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink.

In Sympathy

Hi There! Karen here today posting a sympathy card I’ve had to make for a boss of mine who lost her father. What a sad time for her, and I wanted to be able to send a card to let her know I care. Elizabeth Craft Designs has gorgeous products to help make all kinds of card, like the florals I used today.

To create this card, I started by cutting a sheet of light teal card stock to 4-1/4″x8-1/2″ and folded it in half to make the cardbase. I used a piece of 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock for the card front. I smushed some Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink on my craft mat and swirled around the cardstock to create the background effect. I then cut it with the Stitched Rounded Rectangle Dies.

I added some ribbon and lace. I also cut a Dotted Stitched Circle die out of the light teal and stamped a sentiment from the General Sentiments set and cut it with a Fitted Circles die. I adhered the circles offset just because I think it adds some interest.

Next, I die cut flowers, branches and leaves using the Florals 5 dies and the Branches & Leaves dies. I colored them with Distress Inks in Broken China, Picked Raspberry, Bundled Sage and Mowed Lawn.

I turned them over, spritzed the back very lightly with water, and shaped them. This particular set is pretty easy to shape since you can just run the stylus down the petals.

The flowers are so pretty even if you aren’t an expert at coloring (like me!). I then adhered the flowers to the card and added some stamens that I’d found on Amazon. The card was finished with a few accent half-pearls.

Two-Color Flowers

Karen here today. I love playing with the florals, and today, I’m featuring a couple cards made with the first release that uses two colors for the flowers. So many fun options with these gorgeous flowers.

I had some of this gorgeous onion paper in my stash that I wanted to use in the backgrounds for these florals today. For this card I die-cut it with a Stitched Indented Rectangle Dies. For this card, I then added 1/2 of a Mandala die cut that I first added 101mm Double Sided Adhesive. I then added a sentiment from the Destination Phrases Stamps. I cut the stamped phrase using a Postage Stamp Square and then cut off the ends and top. The green polkadot paper was die cut with the fun hexagon shape in the Decorative Insert Dies from the Art Journal Collection. Next I colored and shaped the florals from the Florals 1 Dies die cut using 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

All of the ink I used for these florals was from Distress Ink. The flower base was first colored with Kitsch Flamingo and then I daubered the edges just slightly with Wilted Violet. I used my finger to add a smidge of Wilted Violet in the centers. For the small flowers, I added some Wilted Violet ink and water onto my craft glass and then just doused the flowers. For the leaves, I used Mowed Lawn and Wild Honey. From here, I spritzed the back of the paper before shaping as it really helps the flowers to hold their shape when dry.

For the next card, I started by adding some Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink through a stencil from the Pattern Stencil Pack to a piece of 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock. I first cut a piece of the onion-skin paper using the Winter Edges Dies. I adhered that to the Soft Finish Cardstock and then die cut with the Stitched Indented Rectangles Dies. I die cut the florals from the Florals 3 dies and colored the leaves with Distress Ink in Bundled Sage and Vintage Photo and the flowers with Broken China and Blueprint Sketch. The “heart leaves” is also from the Decorative Insert Dies from the Art Journal Collection. The sentiment, again from the Destination Phrases Stamps, was cut with the Diagonal Stitched Fishtail Dies. I added a piece of the Postage Stamp Square at the bottom that I colored with Broken China.

Happy Spring

It’s time for another group theme on our blog today. This time we would like to inspire you with some beatiful work around the theme “Spring”. We asked our designers to create some colorful projects or projects that remind them of Spring. Let’s see what they created!

Joseph Nguyen created this beautiful card using a combination of dies from the Fantasy Flowers collection by Anita Izendoorn. He also created a Koala using the Koala die set who sits beautiful in the center of the card.
When we think about Spring, for many people Easter comes up and so it did for Katelyn Grosart. She created this beautiful egg shaped card using the Elegant Easter Egg Large die, the Large and Small Flowers and the Triple Leaves. The “happy easter” is from the Words 2 – Happy Holidays set.
Lisanne Geerdink made this beautiful insert for her planner. She added a picture of little flowers that just started to bloom. A great reminder that Spring has arrived. To decorate her page she used the Blooming Branches die set.
Karen Ostergard created this beautiful card that will definately put a smile on your face. The card has some lovely pastel colors with the flowers so vibrant and pretty. For the background she used the Cubic Background die.
EK Gorman created this colorful Happy Easter card using the Sping Basket die. She used a combination of Silk Microfine Glitters for the grass and eggs in and around the basket. So pretty!
Tina Guigui made this beautiful card using the cut-outs from the Floral Burst Background die. Love this technique and the way she colored. Tina also made another card where she used the actual die cut that you can find on her blog. For the sentiment she used the Spring Sentiments.
Karen Gerber created this beautiful Spring inspired card using a combination of dies and stamps. For the flowers she used the Florals 5 and the tags are from Planners Essentials 26 and the Butterfly Pocket Insert. She also used the Background 1 stamp. What a pretty combination!
Tanja Kabel created this adorable card using the Leaf Pattern Background and the Fairy 2 dies. She also used some green Silk Microfine Glitter to add some sparkle to the background. Love this effect. The sentiment is from the Once Upon a Time Sentiment set.
Last but not least is this colorful cards created by Annette Green who also used the Spring Basket die for her card. She added some beautiful little flowers from Florals set 3 and some leaves from the Leaves and Branches. Love the coloring!

Alcohol Ink Cards

Karen here today. I’ve seen quite a number of people playing with alcohol inks lately, so I decided to pull mine out. I’d forgotten how fun they are and how versatile the backgrounds are to use. Today’s post features two backgrounds I created and four cards using different designer product lines here at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

First thing I did was to create these two gorgeous backgrounds by dropping various colors of alcohol ink on a couple sheets of Yupo paper. I then moved it around with a straw and droppered on some rubbing alcohol.

I cut two strips of the blue background for this card that is matted on a card base and card front made from 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. I created an adorable Sea Turtle (designed by Joset) to put on the card and added some dark blue cardstock, washi tape and blue half pearls. The turtle is colored with Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles, and Vintage Photo with Mermaid Lagoon bubbles. The sentiment is from the Splish Splash Sentiment stamps.

With the other piece of the blue background I added it crooked to this Christmas card. The beautiful girl image is designed by Charlene & Ilse and is from the Oh the Joy of Christmas stamps (as is the sentiment). I colored the girl with Copic markers

  • Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20
  • Lips: E4, E93
  • Hair: E21, E23, E25
  • Eyes: YG03, YG17

I again added some blue cardstock as well as some diamond dots and some lace.

Next, I used a Fitted Circle die cut of the purple ink background to create this card with the Florals 4 set designed by Anita. How pretty are these flowers with just a smidge of Wilted Violet Distress Ink in the centers!?! The leaves are colored with Peeled Paint and the Blooming Branches leaves (that I cut in many pieces for “filler”) is colored with Mowed Lawn. The centers of the flowers are some stamen I got on Amazon. The card base is again 90 lb White Soft finish cardstock, topped with a Fitted Rounded Rectangle die cut matted on purple cardstock.

Last but not least, I created this card using the Celebrate stamps from Sue Smith. I heat embossed the sentiment using ranger gold embossing powder and added a couple hearts (also from the Celebrate Set) that I colored with green and purple markers. The card front is cut with a Stitched Indented Rectangle die.

Thank You Gift Box

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Thank You Gift Box.

To create my gift box, I’ve used dies from the Paper Flower Collection, Els van de Burgt Studio as well as stamps and dies from Joset Designs. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my gift box at home.

Step One. Choose a piece of patterned paper out of the Worn Wood Paper Pack. Die cut the Pizza Box from the Pizza Box die out of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the pizza box using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. From the Pizza Box Die, die cut the scalloped square out of a piece of kraft cardstock. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. From the Pizza Box Die, die cut the stitched square out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. Choose another piece of patterned paper from the Worn Wood Paper Pack. From the Pizza Box Die, die cut the 2 1/2″ circle out of the patterned paper. Die cut the stitched circle out of a piece of kraft cardstock. Distress the edges of both circles. Ink the edges of the circles using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Five. Die cut a 3/4″ Diagonal Stitched Fishtail out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the fishtail down to 3″. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to the Thank You sentiment from the Build Your Own Sentiment 1 Stamp Set and stamp on the right hand side of the fishtail. Distress the edges of the fishtail. Ink the edges of the fishtail using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Six. From the Florals 7 die, die cut the extra large, large, medium and small flowers out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Milled Lavender Distress Ink over the entire surface of the flowers.

Step Seven. From the Florals 7 die, die cut the large leaf and medium leaf twice out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Forest Moss Distress Ink over the entire surface of all the leaves.

Step Eight. Assemble your box.

Step Nine. Adhere the stitched square to the scalloped square. Foam square the scalloped square to the top of the box.

Step Ten. Adhere the stitched circle to the patterned paper circle. Foam square the patterned paper circle to the middle of the stitched square.

Step Elven. Adhere the Thank You banner to the middle of the circles.

Step Twelve. Shape your leaves and flowers. Adhere the flowers together.

Step Thirteen. Adhere a medium and large leaf to the top left portion of the circles. Adhere a medium and large leaf to the bottom left side of the circles.

Step Fourteen. Adhere the flower over top of the leaves. Add a centre to your flower if you desire.

Celebrate Card

It is Karan here to share a project with you and today I am sharing a card i designed using the new Volume II Floral die collection

The card measures 6.5 in. x 7 in. its final measurement, cut papers to fit that size

These dies are amazing to work with, cut like butter and using the Soft Petal cardstock to cut color and mold these flowers make it super easy to create any flower from the collection

To start off with we will need to cut three sets of each die from the soft petal cardstock and then being to color.  For the flowers, color the outside side of the flowers using Red Geranium Archival Ink adding Leaf Green in the middle. 

I cut some smaller flowers from Florals 7 and left them white adding a small pale yellow stamen to the center.

for the Leaves, i used Leaf Green Archival Ink and colored them leaving a bit of white for highlight

The square in the center of the card, i placed a square of adhesive ( 5×5 ) and covered it with cool Diamond Glitter making sure i burnished after shaking off the excess glitter. After matting this on white cardstock i colored some seam binding and wrapped it around the card. 

I inserted some stamens in the smaller flowers coloring them with Leaf green

I created two roses from and two smaller flowers to add more dimension to my card.
I cut out a stitched fishtail on white cardstock using the second to smallest die and then stamped a sentiment using black archival ink..

Memories – New flower dies!

January 19, 2021

Good morning!
I just adore these new flower dies – they are full and fabulous and very versatile!
I decided to create a beach layout of our boys when they were younger as I am longing for some warmer weather!

To create this layout:
Step 1 – Take your favorite ECD paper – I used a sheet from the Worn Wood paper pack – and cover both sides with clear gesso and heat set or allow to dry
Step 2 – Use texture paste and your favorite ECD stencil along the right side of your layout – I used a stencil from the Summer Journal Special
Step 3 – Die cut, ink and assemble 17 flowers – I used the new flower dies that will be available soon! They are so awesome!

Step 4 – die cut, ink and assemble as many branches/stems/leaves as you wish

Step 5 – stamp the title – I used the pieces of life stamp

Step 6 – Add seed beads and art stones and assemble as shown!
