Puppy Love

November 12, 2019

Hello everyone and welcome, Sandy here. It’s hard to believe that in a few short weeks Santa will be loading up his sleigh and getting ready for the big night. It’s time to make all the preparations so we’re ready for the big guy to arrive. Today I want to share a fun and festive tree ornament that can be made in a short time and it’s lots of fun for the kids to do as well. A nice project for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Here is my tutorial:

I began with the adorable Dog die. After cutting out all the pieces using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Velvet Paper, they were edged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and assembled as shown above. The die makes the crease lines for the mouth and snout, using a black marker simply follow the outline. The eyes and nose are Nuvo Drops but they can be easily made by using the marker for them as well. I used the Santa Hat from the Santa Claus die set. The hat was placed on the pup before adding the ears.

The snowbanks were made by cutting a circle from the Fitted Circle die set and then cut into sections using the Adventure Edges.

For the frame of the wreath I used a 4″ embroidery hoop. The inside was painted white while the outside edges were painted green to match the pine boughs that will be added later.

The first snowbank was added to the back of the hoop and the rest were added in layers using foam tape between each layer.

Using the Fitted Circle die set – cut a backing piece (snowflake paper was used here).

The Santa’s Sleigh die set was used for the tree and gifts. Place your cute little pup where you want him and the start adding the other items as desired. Since the snowbanks were raised on foam tape, foam tape was also used at the back of the dog’s head. Use the top of one of the bows to add a bow on the neck of the dog.

You can use any greenery die that you happen to have in your collection. I cut 25 to go all the way around the 4″ hoop. Glue was added to the back (top portion only) of the bough and glued to the hoop. Each time a layer was added, the previous one was lifted up and the next one place under it.

Keep going until the hoop is completely covered. Tie a small bow and add to the top. If you plan to hang this ornament on your tree you will need an extra piece of ribbon for a loop at the top.

Thank you for joining me. You may also want to make this cute ornament into a shaker ornament. That is easy to do by adding shaker items on the inside and some clear acetate on the front of your ornament before you add the greenery.

Happy Crafting,

Let Your Heart Be Light Wall Hanging

November 2, 2019

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, I’m thrilled to be sharing with you my Let your Heart be Light Wall Hanging, which features the brand new collection of stamps and dies from Suzanne Cannon! To compliment the products from Suzanne Cannon, I’ve also used dies from Els van de Burgt Studio.

See my step-by-step below –– I hope you enjoy my tutorial!

Step One. Die cut all the pieces from the Flourish Holly die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Candied Apple Distress Ink over the entire surface of the berries. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Peeled Paint Distress Ink over the entire surface of the flourished holly and single see through holly. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Mowed Lawn Distress Ink over the entire surface of the two holly leaves.

Step Two. From the Love, Joy & Peace Christmas Ornament, die cut the ornament out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the ornament and sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Three. Die cut the snowflake three times from the Flourished Christmas Minis 2 out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Four. Die cut the Flourished Frame out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Five. Choose two patterned papers that coordinate. From one of the patterned papers, die cut a 4″ Stitched Rectangle out of the paper. From the other patterned paper, die cut a 3 1/2″ Stitched Rectangle out of the paper. Distress the edges of both pieces. Ink the edges of both pieces using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Six. Apply Candied Apple Distress Ink to the Let your Heart sentiment from the Let Your Heart be Light stamp set and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the sentiment out using the 2″ Stitched Circle.

Step Seven. To support the wall hanging, cut a piece that measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ out of thicker cardstock or a bingo card. Ink the edges of the piece using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eight. Adhere the 4″ stitched rectangle to the 4″ base. Adhere the flourished frame to the 4″ stitched rectangle. Adhere the 3 1/2″ stitched rectangle to the 4″ stitched rectangle.

Step Nine. Adhere the three snowflake randomly on the 3 1/2″ stitched rectangle.

Step Ten. Adhere the ornament to the stitched circle. Foam square the stitched circle to the middle of the 3 1/2″ stitched rectangle.

Step Twelve. Adhere the flourished holly together. Adhere the assembled flourished holly to the top of the ornament.

Step Thirteen. To finish the wall hanging, add a piece of twine to the back of the wall hanging.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Let Your Heart be Light Wall Hanging.

Thanksgiving Table Décor

October 24, 2019

Hello again friends,

It’s Sandy Diller here with you today –– it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away. I have a table décor centerpiece to share with you today. It has all my favorite colors so let’s get started.

To get started on this project you will need two 6″ embroidery hoops and one 4″ hoop. Separate them as shown below.

You will only need three of the four rings. Begin by painting them orange on all sides. An inexpensive acrylic paint was used here.

The color was just as bit too bright for me so I rubbed on some Distress Oxide Ink, Vintage Photo.

Fit the hoops together to create a pumpkin shape. It is helpful to mark the center so they go together evenly. The smaller hoop is to hold the pumpkin upright. It also needs to be painted. A little hot glue was used to hold them in place for decorating.

I used the top portion of a Styrofoam ball for the center. It was marked and cut to go in the center and around the hoops. As you can see, I first painted it orange but later decided that green was a better choice. A hole was made in the center to hold a battery operated candle. This part does not need to be pretty as it will not show when finished. It is important to select a smooth Styrofoam for this as hot glue will be used again later. Regular Styrofoam will melt with hot glue.

Add center as shown above.

Next a variety of flowers, vines and ferns were cut and assembled. I have linked the ones I used below but you can use any that you happen to have.

Now the biggest job is arranging the flowers to your liking. This takes a little time but so worth the effort. Hot glue was used to hold the flowers in place.

Next some leaves were cut and colored with Oxide Ink and then added to the top of the pumpkin. The final touch is to tie a bow and glue to the top to hide the working part of the hoop. I made two bows – putting one on each side.

This little pumpkin would look nice on your Thanksgiving table or anywhere else in you home to celebrate the season. I hope you have enjoyed and will give it a try.

Until next time – stay crafty,

S@ndy

Fall House

October 22, 2019

Hi there,

It’s Tanja here again and today I would like to show you how to create this adorable little fall house.

Step 1: Die Cutting

  • cut the Holiday House Box from kraft cardstock
  • cut some leaves from the Woodland Leaves die set and the Berry Spray

Step 2: Coloring and Shaping

  • color the leaves and the berry sprig with Alcohol Markers
  • shape the leaves with the All Metal Tool Set
  • add some Nuvo Crystal Drops Ripened Pumpkin as berries

Step 3: Assembly & Decoration

  • assemble the box using clear double-sided adhesive
  • adhere the leaves and the berry sprigs with hot glue
  • create a roof by using Copper Bronze glitter on cardstock, cutting into scallops – use the Dotted Scallop Rectangle die set for this

I hope you got inspired to create your own fall-themed project.

Hugs,
