Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge – April 2018

April 17, 2018

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again! Our Design Team are back this month with lots of inspiration for this month’s challenge … Are you ready?!!?!!!

Scissor Spring Mechanism – Spring has sprung and to celebrate we are adding some spring to our projects this month in a slightly different way! By adding the Scissor Spring Mechanism to our stamped or die cut images, it gives the effect of springing or bouncing and can  be lots of fun!  Add some spring/bounce to your card, Scrapbook layout, etc., by including the Scissor Spring Mechanism to your project.

You can find a quick video on how to assemble the Scissor Spring Mechanism here.

For our Challenge today we are giving away a $20 Gift Card to use on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website to 3 winners.

To enter, simply leave a comment either on this blog post below or on the Designer Challenge post on our Facebook page and answer this question: What Elizabeth Craft Designs dies or stamp sets would you use with the Scissor Spring Mechanism die set to create a card, scrapbook layout of home decor item?

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing.

The winners will be announced on Friday, April 20th, here on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

Now let’s take a look at the wonderful creations our talented Design Team have created for the Challenge this month. For more information about the cards, click on the designer’s name under each card to be taken to the designer’s blog post.

Tanja Kabel has a fun card for us today in pinks and purples. She used the Scissor Spring Mechanism to pop up the girl holding the parcels on the inside of her card (see insert photo on top right hand corner of card). For her card Tanja has used Scissor Spring Mechanism and Dashing Rectangles die sets along with the Gift Wrapped Clear Stamp Set with Coordinating dies and General Sentiments Clear Stamp set. Watercolor Paper was also used on this card.

Selma Stevenson is “Wishing us a Bee-utiful Day” with her adorable bee scene card using the Scissor Spring Mechanism on the bee. To create her card Selma has used the Scissor Spring Mechanism, Bee, Beehive, Adventure Edges, Rainbow Sky, Stitched Fishtail Banners, CountryScapes – Hollyhocks, CountryScapes – Clematis, Ivy and Garden Notes – Lavender, CountryScapes – Garden Edge Hyacinth as well as Pair of Leaves 1 and Leafy Branch die sets and the Bee Sentiments Clear Stamp set. She chose Soft Finish Cardstock in White, Buttercream and Mustard and used the Earth and Sky Stencil and Bloomy Day Prills, too.

Here is a close up of Selma’s bee which is attached to the Scissor Spring Mechanism. It is hard to see because she used clear acetate, a great way to make the Scissor Spring Mechanism almost invisible, but if you look carefully you can see it.

Karen Nofziger shares the inside of a Mother’s Day card she created for the challenge (visit her blog to see the front of the card). Karen used the Scissor Spring Mechanism (behind the chick), Fitted Circles, Dotted Scallop Circles, and Words 3 – Happy Holidays die sets along with Patchwork Clear Stamp set with Coordinating dies. ModaScrap Fly & Scrap Patterned Paper Pack was used to decorate her card.

Sandy Diller is up next with a thank you card. To create her card Sandy used the Flying High, Lake Scene (Postage Edge frame), and Banner die sets and Banner Sentiments Clear Stamp Set. The airplane was cut away from the rest of the die cut. The Scissor Spring Mechanism pops the airplane up in the air!

Judi Kauffman joins us today with a fun circle-shaped card. For her card Judi used the Scissor Spring Mechanism, Dashing Circles, A Way With Words – Hope, A Way With Words – Courage, and A Way With Words – Butterfly Flourish die sets. She also included Shimmer Sheetz in Light Blue Iridescent and Turquoise Gemstone.

  • leslie Cernocky April 18, 2018 at 6:58 am

Nice projects ladies. In answer to the question – I am partial the garden notes gathering basket. In the inspiration of Winne the Pooh – the gathering basket would be a very “useful pot even if there is no honey in it” – I could put lots and lot of paper spring time flowers and even Easter eggs for decorating my springtime cards.

  • Sheila Bacon April 18, 2018 at 6:33 am

Can one have too many butterfly stamps/dies? Never! That’s why I envision using the Butterflies and bugs stamps and dies, not only for scrapbook layouts, but cards, journals, and more. Thank you for this giveaway.

I thing popping up bugs and balloons is wonderful . So many wonderful ideas the possibilities are limitless. I have seen this die on your site and wondered what it was for and how it worked.
