Elizabeth Craft Designs September Designer’s Challenge – NEW dies Els van de Burgt Studio Collection

September 29, 2015

This month’s Designer Challenge is a showcase devoted to the new Els van de Burgt Studio dies, along with anything else that the designers wanted to incorporate.

Marsha Valk wowed us with two cards: One features an ornament trio that uses Els’s new Ornament Set 4 along with Fitted Frames 4 Curvy Squares for a subtle white-on-white background. The other features five fabulous poinsettias made with the brand new Poinsettia die. Both incorporate Soft Finish Cardstock and dappled colors, an effect she created with Ken Oliver Color Burst powdered watercolors.

Jackeline Rojas chose the new Tags & More 9 Sparkle die as the starting point for her Double Treat Thinking of You card. That’s what we’ve dubbed it because there are definitely two treats going on: Decorative die cutting at both ends plus two elegant layered flowers!

Frances Byrne’s Season’s Greetings Stand Up Helper card is all decked out with sparkly, shiny layered poinsettias. She incorporated the brand new Fitted Frames 3 Curvy Rectangles, the Sprig from one of Els’s previous collections, and showcased the brand new Poinsettia die in all of its splendor!

Judi Kauffman did some amazing fussy cutting for her Congratulations card. Look at how the nymph’s toe tucks through the upper portion of the ‘C’ and how her other foot just gouches the border of the brown rectangle! She combined the new Fitted Frames 4 Curvy Squares with a layered Shimmer Sheetz butterfly (Butterfly Set 1). The flower in the nymph’s hair (Bunch of Flowers, from an earlier release) matches the bottom layer of the butterfly. Those ‘diamonds’ accenting the frames are her go-to Transparent Glitter Dots.

Angela Beavers used the Fitted Frames 4 Curvy Squares to create this fun album that can be used as a journal or photo book. Angela loves quilts, so what better way to use this die than to create a faux quilted look. This is an easy project that works with any paper collection and it would also be beautiful as a card front.
