It’s Suzanne here today! I’ve always liked the look of magic wands, headbands with butterfly antennae, and I’m a big fan of plant picks and decorations that florists use as a special accent!
It’s the combination of something attention-grabbing at the top and a slender column below that I find appealing. Fragile and sturdy at the same time, top-heavy, but without toppling…And SO easy to make!
I decided to create some floral decor, though I can easily see decorated sticks in a pencil jar, peeking out of the headband of a party hat, transplanted to a flower pot…
Care to join me? Here’s the how-to:
Instructions:
- Die cut each word at least twice in colours of your choice. Adhere the layers so the words will be sturdy. Use tiny bits of tape to lightly tack and position the words over the skewer.
- Apply glue to the back of the words, then sandwich the skewer with the diecut. Option: Adding extra clear-drying glue to the back of the words will also add stability.
- Allow to dry! That’s it!
Designer Tip: Sometimes you can just adhere a second word to the first without attaching it to the skewer (as shown with the ‘Baby love’ sample).

I think I’m going to make one with the word ‘Live” to encourage my orchid plant to keep going. (I don’t have much of a green thumb…)
I’m still laughing Judi! You make sure you send me a photo of that poor orchid with its “Live”. I’m wishing it good health!
