Garden Box Card Keeper

July 9, 2015
PHi, it’s Angela and today I want to share with you a wooden box that I altered using a garden theme. My box measures about 9” wide, 6” tall & 7” deep. The box will be the perfect place to store my summer themed flower & garden cards. Let me show you how I created this project.

A (5)

Preparing the box:
*Paint the box with gesso. After it has dried, paint with green paint. After the paint has dried, lightly sand all sides.
*Make a template for the inside of the box. Cut out and trace onto patterned paper. Cut out the four sides & glue to the inside of the box.
*Sand edges of paper and ink with coffee ink using a sponge.

B (3)

Decorate the box front:
*Cut a piece of patterned paper 8 1/2 x 2 1/2 & fold in half. Die cut using the Tags & More Lace die. Place a copper brad in each hole and hammer the brad flat.
*Add this to the front of the box with glue.
*From polka dot patterned paper, die cut a tag using Tags & More Daisy die.
*From a preprinted image in the paper collection, die cut a tag using Tags & More Leaves die. Shorten tags as desired.

C (3)

*Mat the two tags together and glue to the box front.

D (3)

Create a pocket for the box:
*Cut a piece of 11 x 4 1/2 cardstock. Die cut using the Tags & More Vine die (center die on cardstock).

E (3)

*Cut to 6 3/4” long. Score on all three sides of the tag at 1/4” & apply ECD tape to the edges & crop the edges as shown in the photo.
*Apply patterned paper cut at 4 x 3 3/4” to pocket front & glue down the decorative edge. Place  copper brad in the hole & hammer the brad flat.

F (2)

*Die cut Alpha letters from green cardstock spelling “GARDEN NOTES” & apply to the pocket.
*Ink edges with coffee ink & glue to the inside of the box.
*Extra tags can be stored in the pocket.

Tags for the Cards:
*Cut cardstock to 5 1/2 x 4 and die cut using the Tags & More Sunburst and Flourish dies. Place one die at the top & one at the bottom of the cardstock.

G (2)

Choose patterned paper and create the cards. Add the tags, ribbon & die cuts from the paper collection.

J

*Create a divider for the inside if desired.
