Happy Easter Bunny Frame Card

February 18, 2018

Hello Everyone, it’s Tina here today. Now that Valentine’s Day is over we have Easter to look forward to. Joset’s new release has you covered. When I saw the bunny backside die from the Bunny die set I knew I had to make a card with it. Below you will find the easy steps to replicate this card.

  • Step 1 – Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Score and fold in half to form a horizontal side-fold card base. Finished size: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (A2)
  • Step 2 – Trim Wood Effect Patterned Paper to 3″ x 4 1/4″. Die cut Bunny (the circle) in the center of the trimmed Patterned Paper. Trim Black Soft Finish Cardstock to 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″. Adhere the black cardstock to the center of the card using  Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape, making sure to align where the circle die cut is. Adhere the trimmed Patterned Paper to the center of the card using  Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.
  • Step 3 – Create a frame – Die cut Fitted Rectangles & Dashing Rectangles from White Soft Finish Cardstock. The Fitted Rectangle is on the inside and Dashing Rectangle is on the outside. Tip: Cut both rectangles at once. Place the dies onto the cardstock and use low-tack tape to keep them in place when they go through the cutting machine. See below photo.

  • Step 3 – Stamp Happy Easter on the patterned paper using black pigment ink. A Tip: Place the frame on top of the card to determine the correct position for the stamping. Make light pencil guide marks if you feel they’re needed. Remove the frame and stamp the words. (If guide marks were used, erase them now.)
  • Step 4 – Adhere the frame to the center front of card using foam tape for dimension.
  • Step 5 -Using an Ink Applicator, ink a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock using Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink. Die cut Bunny backside, tail and feet (two pieces for each foot) from the inked cardstock. Shade the backside, tail and top part of the bunny feet with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink. Assemble the pieces using Kids Choice Glue. Adhere to the card using Foam Tape.

  • Step 6 – For the flowers: Apply Distress Ink in pastel colors to a non-stick craft mat. (Shown: Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar & Tumbled Glass. For the Easter Egg: Apply Milled Lavender. For the Grass: Peeled Paint.) Spritz the mat with water and place small pieces of White Soft Finish Cardstock on top of each individual color to absorb into the paper. Repeat as needed. Air dry or heat set colors between applications and prior to step 7.
  • Step 7 – Die cut the flowers using dies from the Spring Basket die set. Die cut the flower centers from White Soft Finish Cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the back prior to cutting. Die cut the grass several times. Ink the edges to create some shading. Die cut the small egg. Add dots to the egg by using the leftovers from die cutting the flower centers as a stencil. Adhere the grass, flowers and egg to the bottom of the frame using Kids Choice Glue.

This card can be used for any occasion by using more flowers instead of an egg and by replacing the sentiment and the bunny with other words and a different die cut shape or something stamped and colored (Butterfly, puppy, person). Love that card! So cute, can’t wait to try it. The glue that you show in your links, does it dry stiff? I have been looking for a good paper glue that dries clear, but not stiff. I prefer glue over the craft tapes as it holds forever, but haven’t found one yet that dries and doesn’t turn stiff.

Hi Ann. Thank you! The Kids Choice Glue is awesome. It goes on white but dries clear. You only need a tiny amount. I highly recommend it!
