Happy Easter Wall Decoration Frame

March 29, 2018

Hi Crafty People!  EK here today.  I thought with Easter just a few days away, I thought I would share a wall hanging decoration I made for the wall next to the Easter Day kids’ table.  We are having several different families come together this year since none of us can get together with our born-into families, and we are going to have a table of eight elementary school kids sitting together.  My children and I have been busy making decorations for the house and I realized that the wall was looking just a little bleak, so I came up with the idea of making this wall decoration.

The inspiration of for this project started with a frame that Els made a few weeks back during her Technique Friday with Els Assembling the Happy Frame XL, where Els decorated just two of the side panels with stamps while leaving the other two bare.

Step One:

  • Die cut Happy Frame XL 4 times from Cafe Au Lait Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Stamp the 3 smallest eggs from the Color My Easter Eggs Stamp Set with Archival Ink in Tree Branch onto two of the frame panels.

Step Two:

  • Color the eggs –  Zig Clean Color Real Brushes Markers used here in Light Gray, Blue Gray, and Lilac for the circles inside the eggs and Ochre for the eggs themselves.

Step Three:

  • Using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive to adhere where needed, fold and assembled the four frame panels.
  • Using Kids Choice Glue, glue the four corners together and assemble the frame.

Step Four:

  • Stamp two of the large Eggs from the Color My Easter Eggs stamp set twice each with Archival Ink in Tree Branch on 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Color the eggs –  Zig Clean Color Real Brushes Markers in Lilac, Blue Grey and Ochre used here.
  • Die cut eggs using the Color My Easter Eggs die set.

Step Five:

  • Using dies from the Color My Easter Eggs die set, cut 2 large eggs, 3 bows, and six stems (strings, sticks – you choose what to call them) from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Six:

  • Stamp the sentiment from Spring Sentiments stamp set onto both of the white eggs using Archival Ink in Tree Branch. Tip: Use a stamping platform.

Step Seven:

  • Glue two stems together, making a total of three thick stems.
  • Place a stem between two matching eggs and glue them together.
  • Repeat with the remaining two pairs of matching eggs.

Step Eight:

  • Using Copics (or other alcohol markers), color and shade the bows.  V20, V22, and V25 for the purple bows and B93, B95, B97 for the blue bow used here.
  • Shape and assemble the bows using Kids Choice Glue to secure the pieces.
  • Glue the bows to the eggs where the stem attaches at the top. Refer to the project photo.

Step Nine:

  • Using the die from the Spring Basket die set, cut 16 grass pieces from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Ten:

  • Give the grass pieces a quick color on both sides with an Olive Green Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker.  Leave some white showing through.
  • Score the the grass pieces 3 mm up from the base of the grass and fold them so they can stand up.

Step Eleven:

  • Using glue, adhere the grass to both sides of the base of the frame so the fold faces the middle.  Add a few grass clusters between the two rows to make the grass look thicker, more realistic and lush.
  • Using a craft knife, make three slits inside the top side of the frame.
  • Glue the egg stems inside the slits so the eggs will hang from the top of the frame.

Now the frame is ready to hang on the wall!

Thanks for stoping by and I hope you enjoyed my Easter-themed tutorial!
