Happy Hydrangea

Happy Hydrangea by Christine Pooler

Hello Everyone, this is Christine from Susan’s Garden Design Team and today is my turn to post on the Elizabeth Craft Design’s Blog.  My project uses Susan’s Hydrangea die along with several other dies.  My designer paper is a sheet that I have been saving for several years now. I can’t even remember where I bought it. Do you ever do that, buy some paper that you love and then not use it because you are afraid that you will not be able to get more?  I have decided I need to use some of those papers!

Here is how this card was made.

Card Base is 5″ x 7″ White Soft Finish Cardstock.

  1.  Cut patterned paper 4-3/4″ x 6-3/4.  Using #4 of Fitted Oval dies set, cut oval in patterned paper placing die approximately 1-3/4″ up from bottom.  Attach to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Stamp sentiment in center of oval using black ink (Joset’s Designs General Sentiment stamp set used here).
  2. Cut 2 Susan’s Garden Notes Grapevine Wreath Oval from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Lay right side down on molding mat using medium ball tool from Susan’s Garden 4 pc. Tool Kit and lightly rub along branches, then turn over and rub a few branches here and there again with ball tool to give dimension.  Glue one on top of the other using Kids Choice Glue.
  3. Cut 2-3 Leafy Branches from green cardstock.  Lay them right side down on molding mat using medium ball tool rub the leaves giving a little dimension then cut apart.  Using Kids Choice Glue, attach pieces around wreath.
  4. Adhere wreath over oval opening using Kids Choice Glue.
  5. Make 2 Hydrangeas following Susan’s video tutorial found here.  (Hydrageas used here were cut from White Soft Finish Cardstock that was randomly colored using PanPastels before cutting.)  Attach Hydrangeas and leaves to lower left side of wreath using Kids Choice Glue.
  6. Cut 1 Stitched Fishtail Banner using #2 die and white Soft Finish Cardstock.  Stamp “Happy Birthday” from Joset’s Designs General Sentiment stamp set using black ink.  Attach to bottom of card front using dimensional tape.  Add self-adhesive gem in center.

That is how I did it – now it is your turn.

Morning Christine, Wow !! this hydrangea card is stunning !! I agree about hoarding papers, I am exactly the same, I have loads and loads of patterned papers that I just take out and stroke haha, I really do need to use these.

Thanks Patricia! I am so glad I used the paper but held my breath when I cut into it. I am glad that I am not alone.

What a beautiful card. I agree with you about using those gorgeous papers we hoard. It’s difficult sometimes but the end result is worth it. Thanks for sharing.

My mother used to hoard material like I hoard paper! She was/is a quilter and just loved the feel of a good piece of cloth. I do understand about starting to use up what we’ve saved for so long. It really makes your card extra special. Whoever gets that one is a lucky person!
