House Pivot – vest

April 21, 2014

Hello, it’s Raquel Mason here today. When Karen Burniston designed this new House Pivot die & asked me to make some samples for her, well let me say I felt so honored to have that opportunity.
I would like to show you how to use the House Pivot die to make something other than a house with a fence card. I simply doubled the house portion to make this masculine card. I don’t know about you, but I find masculine cards a little bit more tricky than feminine cards BUT this card was quick & easy.

1.  Create card base from rust cardstock.  Cut 5″ x 10″ square; score and fold in half and keep it folded in half when cutting.  Place the House Pivot die ONLY on one side of the paper, keeping the pivot marks of the die on the fold, you don’t want the fence portion on your paper at all, then die-cut.  See photo below.

2.  Die cut 2 houses using the House Pivot die from patterned paper. Glue to pivot area of card.

3.  Die cut one bow from black cardstock.

4.  Die cut 1 vanilla Katie Label for the stamped sentiment & 1 patterned paper Katie Label for layering underneath.

5.  For the handkerchief, cut a piece of patterned paper at .5″ x 2.25″. Die cut the brick house accessory die (included in the House Pivot set) from patterned paper & trim to fit into the pocket.

6.  Cut 3 pieces rust cardstock at 2.25″ x 5″ for the side panels and emboss with Trendy Tiles 2 embossing folder. Refer to photos for placement of these items.

7.  Die cut 1 bow & 4 bow centers (used as buttons). Glue bow & bow centers only to the left side of the card.

8.  Die cut 1 vanilla Katie Label for the stamped sentiment & 1 patterned paper Katie Label for layering underneath. Glue to the bottom right corner of card.

9.  Optional – cut rust 3″ x 5″, scored in half at 1.5″. Glue this piece on the left, under the vest on the front of your card & under the vest on the back of the card.

Love this idea, but can’t find the die. My local Scrapbooking store looked for it where they’ve ordered other Elizabeth dies and couldn’t find the house. Where can we order from? Thanks.

      Kelly,
The House Pivot die was just released, ask your local store to contact Elizabeth Craft Designs again & I’m sure they’ll be able to get it for you.

Would like to see a right side up pix of how far the crease of the paper goes into the edge of the house die.

    • Raquel Mason April 21, 2014 at 3:34 pm

      Jackie,
If you are refering the extra strip of cardstock I have added to the left corner, it ends up right at the pivot point. The cardstock can’t go any further because you won’t be able to open the card. This extra piece of cardstock will give the card extra stability & covers any cut areas behind the vest (as all of this area will be open when it pivots). I hope this helps with your question, please comment again if you have more questions.
