I Melt for Cocoa

November 19, 2018

Hey Friends!  It’s EK from ekgorman designs and I am sneaking in to share not one but two marshmallow cards featuring the new Marshmallow Snowmen stamp set.  In our house, all winter long hot chocolate rules, according to both of my girls, and the only acceptable way to drink it is with giant marshmallows floating on the top.  Needless to say, while this stamp set was not created with my daughters in mind, according to them, it was.  So in tribute to them, here are two marshmallow cocoa cards for my two marshmallows girls.

Step One: Cut a sheet of Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock in half for two 6 x 12 inch pieces. Score and fold both at 6 inches to make two square card bases. Cut a piece of White Christmas printed paper to 6 x 6.  Cut a piece of Silver Gray Soft Finish Cardstock to 6 x 6.

Step Two:  Repeatedly stamp the candy canes and cocoa cups from the Marshmallow Snowmen stamp sets onto the Silver Gray cardstock.

Step Three:  Trim the printed White Christmas paper on the diagonal line and adhere to the silver gray paper paper, trim flush with the edges of the square as shown above.

Step Four:  Die cut with the largest die from the Stitched Squares die set.

Step Five:  Adhere the two die cut pieces to the card bases. (One will become a narrow frame border, the other will cover almost the entire card front.)

Step Six:  Color in the images using both Zig Clean Color Real Brushes and a white gel pen.

Step Seven:  Stamp the Marshmallow Snowmen images onto 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock with waterproof black ink.  Die cut the images with the coordinating Marshmallow Snowmen die set.

Step Eight:  Color the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

Step Eight:  Stamp a sentiment from the Cute Winter Sentiments stamp set onto 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock with blue ink (Shown: Archival Ink in Cornflower Blue).  Hand draw some stitch lines and distress with brown ink (Shown Archival Ink in Cocoa).  Adhere the sentiment panel and three stamped and colored images to one of the card bases as shown above.

Step Nine:  Adhere the other images to the second card front.

Thank you for peeking at my projects that pay tribute to hot chocolate and marshmallows. I hope that you can soon toast the Hot Chocolate Season.
