Last-minute Halloween cards and tags

October 25, 2014

By Judi Kauffman

Are you ready for some last-minute Halloween cards and tags? Great! Because that’s what Judi Kauffman’s been up to. The tags will go on bags of cookies; the cards are going into the mail this very day…

That’s right, Joset. I was so excited about the Halloween in Frame Peel-offs I designed (#2585) that I just couldn’t stop making Halloween cards and tags. These last-minute projects are so easy. All you have to do is color inside the lines, cut around the peel-offs, and assemble the card fronts. Under ten minutes!

Some include nothing more than solid cardstock rectangles. Others incorporate patterned papers and some pre-printed stickers and die cuts. (Graphic 45, Karen Foster Design, K&Company) Sizes: A2 (4.25” x 5.5”), 4” square, and 3” x 6”.

The first batch of six cards, shown above and in the close-ups below, was done with the brand new (and totally amazing!) Chameleon Color Tones Pens. One pen does all of the blending – there’s a toning cartridge right in the 2-nib pen. You’ll be seeing a lot more projects from me that feature these pens, that’s for sure! They’re alcohol-based and compatible with all other brands of alcohol-based markers so I can mix the 20 colors in the Chameleon palette with other pens I already own.

I hope that you’ll use my projects as inspiration for your own last-minute super fast, super easy Halloween projects.

HOW TO:

1. Place peel-offs onto WorldWin Paper ColorMates Smooth & Silky 90# cardstock in White for all projects except the two tags with black background. Substitute black cardstock and use Moonlight pens (opaque ink) for that style.

2. Color with Chameleon Color Tones Pens or Letraset ProMarkers. Add doodles and details with Sakura Gelly Roll Moonlight, Gelly Roll Medium White and Pigma Micron pens.

3. Use photos for layout ideas. Complete the card fronts as shown or as you prefer.

4. To complete tags, punch an eighth-inch hole, centered a quarter-inch from the top of the Halloween in Frame. Add a loop of eighth-inch satin ribbon, 10” needed per tag.

Thank you all for the positive comments. I did have a good time with the projects – I think I ended up making about 40 Halloween cards and a dozen tags this year (more than usual!). I kept thinking of more ways to doodle and the Chameleon Pens came at just the right time.
