Parrots In The Wild

Diane here with a joyful birthday card!

What is the most funny and wild creatures to wish someone dear an happy birthday? Why not Joset’s parrots in a bunch of lilies? This card feel so much like summer, you’ll want a cold drink to go with it! I hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Step1: The card base:

  • Cut a White Soft Finish Cardstock to 12″ x 6″, score in the middle and fold in half for a square 6″ X 6″ card.
  • Using a round sponge, ink up the background with some blue and forest moss ink. Also use a make-up applicator to soften the ink with white Pan Pastel.
  • Cut out 4 times the strip from the die “Happy Frame” (#1499) and cut them length wise to mesure 6″.
  • Build the frame up and adhere on the card base.

Step 2: A trio of leaves:

  • In a green cardstock, die cut 3 times each leaf in the die set “Trio Of Leaves” (#1464).
  • Shade the leaves with forest moss ink and some light yellow Pan Pastel.
  • Shape each branch to give them dimension using tools from Susan’s Garden 4 Pcs. All Metal Tool Set.

Step 3: The Parrots

  • Using the die set “Parrot” (1665), die cut all the dies twice in White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • With Distress Ink and sponge applicator, color all the pieces like show in the picture below.
  • Assemble both parrots with Kids Choice Glue and a toothpick. You can also watch this helpful video on YouTube where Els show you how to assemble the parrot.
  • Adhere googling eyes with the same glue.

Step 4: The Lilies

  • Using the die set “Garden Notes – Lily 2” (#1370), die cut all the flower parts to make 4 flowers.
  • With some lilac and violet ink, shade the petals of the flower.
  • Using some yellow ink,, shade the pistils.
  • Let dry all the parts before shaping.
  • Shape the petals using Susan’s Garden 4 Pcs. All Metal Tool Set.
  • Roll up the base of the pistil and glue with Kids Choice Glue and a toothpick. To see the best there is make those flowers, watch that video where Susan Tierney Cockburn show all the steps to achieve a gorgeous result.

Step 5: Adhere it all together !

  • Using some Kids Choice Glue, glue the leaves around the frame, on the card base.
  • Using some foam adhesive on the back of the parrots, glue them.
  • Also with the Kids Choice Glue, glue down the flowers.
