A Rectangle Pull Card with a little Sparkle and a Cup of Joe!

February 19, 2016

Hi,

It’s Kelly Booth here with a sparkly fun coffee card using new dies and a stencil from Karen Burniston!  I’m a big fan of coffee and am loving all the possibilities of the new Cup Pop Stand and the Stage it Stencils. I just can’t put them down….

Here is how the card looks when it’s closed and ready to be mailed:

And here it is when opened up:

I had a really hard time this time capturing the sparkle on the cup and beans so here is a close-up:

Here is a photo of  the dies, stencils, and stamps we will be using today:

 1. Cut three 5″.5″ by 7″.5″ pieces from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Lay your Paisley Stencil on the textured side and tape down with removable tape.  Using Barn Door Distress Ink and an ink blending tool, ink all three pieces of cardstock.  Before removing the tape from the last piece, mix up some translucent embossing paste with some Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter with a palette knife.  Spread the mixture over the stenciled area using an old credit card or gift card. Remove tape, lift the stencil straight up so the embossing paste won’t smudge. Wash and dry the stencil. Set the stenciled cardstock aside to dry.

2. Cut a piece of red cardstock to 5″.5″ by 11″, score and fold in half.  Place Rectangle Pull Card Die on the fold lining up the nibs (Secure with a piece of removable tape) and run through your die cutting machine.  Fold the card up so that the closure tab is at the bottom of the card and trim sides so folded card measures 4″.75″ by 5″.5″.

3. Using the Rectangle die from the Rectangle Pull Card Set , place it in the middle of the rectangle with your card opened up and run through your die cutting machine.

4.Take a small piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock and cut the center from the Rectangle Accordion Die. (You only need the center rectangle.) Snip off the tabs and connection points, leaving a large rounded-corner rectangle.  Place pieces of 3mm Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the edges of the red frame (on the inside of the card), remove backing and place the large rectangle on the tape so it is on the inside of the card.

5. Take the Rectangle Frame Edge die from the Pull Card Edges set and place it lengthwise onto one of your stenciled Paisley pieces. Cut it larger as it is real easy to snip away after it is fitted evenly around the edge. Fit it in position, then put pieces of Transparent Double Sided Adhesive on the back and place it onto the card. Flip the card over and use a craft knife to trim away the excess.

Do the same with the other side making sure both sides are spaced the same. Be sure edges meet in the center with the card closed.

6. Cover the front of a piece of brown cardstock about 5″ by 5″ with Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Remove backing, pour on some Chocolate Silk Microfine Glitter and polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle in the glitter. Use the coffee bean die to cut 20 beans (the die cuts 2 beans at a time). Option: You can use more or fewer beans, depending on the look you want. Set he beans aside.

7. Take the  Paisley stenciled, glittered piece, place the cup die onto it and run it through your die cutting machine.

8. Using a piece of transparency or  clear packaging material, place the Spiral die from the Spiral Circle Pull Card set on the transparency and run through your die cutting machine. Snip the outer edge so it comes out.  Using a little liquid adhesive on the outer edge place this onto the white rectangle inside the card toward the top.  Put a little bit of adhesive in the very center of the spiral, close the card and let the glue dry.

9. Cut from scraps of red cardstock:  1 Circle from the Accordion Circle Die set and one Stitched Rectangle from the Accordion Gift Card Set.  With white ink or embossing ink and white embossing powder, emboss the word ‘Coffee’ on the Circle. Use stamps from the Coffee & Tea Clear Stamp set for the words ‘My Creativity is Fueled by’ on the Stitched Rectangle. Place the circle in the center of the clear spiral using Transparent Double Sided Tape, with the spiral pulled open so the red is underneath. Do the same with the Rectangle, placing it on the front of the card  – evenly spaced at the sides.

To finish the card front: Using a little bit of liquid adhesive to secure them, arrange three beans on the front, two toward the bottom, and one at the top of the rectangle with a little liquid adhesive.

10. To make steam for the coffee: Cover the front of a piece of white cardstock with Clear Double Sided Tape, cover with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle in the glitter.  Die cut the steam shape.

Put pieces of Clear Double Sided Tape onto the back of the Coffee Cup and fit it up close to the spiral.

12.  Using a little liquid adhesive on parts of the beans that will hit the spiral, arrange and adhere your beans on as you wish.  Add a second bean to the back wherever you can see the back (un-glittered) side of the bean.

Great idea to decorate the coffee cup…why didn’t I think of that???!!! The cup is like a Dresden cup! So tea time or coffee time it works! Beautifully…nearly arostricatic (is that a word?). What ever…it’s adorable!
