Pop It Ups Wednesday With Raquel - Masculine Card

Hello my crafty friends! It’s Raquel Mason here today with a masculine card to share with you.  In general, I think many of us would agree that it’s trickier to create a masculine card than a feminine card.  My Dad loves chocolate so I thought the Cake Pop Up would make a perfect card for him.

I would like to show you how I made this easy Father’s Day card – or for added versatility, simply change the sentiment to suit your needs.  Let’s get started!

  1. Cut a piece of green cardstock at 5 1/2 x 11; score and fold at 5 1/2 for the card base.
  2. Cut pne piece of Through the Lens Stone paper at 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 and two pieces at 3 x 5.
  3. Cut a piece of white cardstock at 5 x 10 1/2 and score at 5 1/4, then die cut using Cake Pop Up.  Stamp “Happy Father’s Day” on the bottom portion and color in if desired.  Cut another piece of white cardstock at 3 1/4 x 4.
  4. Cut a piece of black cardstock at 3 1/2 x 4 1/4.

Die cut the following pieces shown below:

  • Black cardstock – (1) pair of glasses & a bow tie from Props 1
  • Red cardstock – (2) hearts from Baker the Beaver & the letters “DAD” from Alphabet 1
  • Stone cardstock – the letters “HEY” from Alphabet 1

Die cut the following pieces shown below:

  • Stone cardstock – cut from step 2, die cut using Pull Card Edges
  • Dark brown cardstock – (3) cupcakes from Baker the Beaver
  • Green cardstock – (3) frosting tops from Baker the Beaver
  • Black cardstock – (1) cake stand from Cake Pop Up
  • Light brown cardstock – rectangles from Cake Pop Up.  Stamp “I love” on the smaller rectangle and “You” on the larger rectangle using Best Wishes Clear stamp set.

Assemble the card using photos for placement.  When adhering the patterned paper to the card base, take care not to place adhesive under the pop up areas.  I only used the top center bump to adhere a cupcake; I folded the others back down and adhered them to the card base.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial and feel inspired to make a masculine card, too!

Happy Crafting,

Raquel

This is adorable. You did a great job making the cake pop up look masculine. I also love how you added more cake to the cake with the little cup cakes. It’s really adorable. Thank You!
