Pop it Ups

RIP Buster

October 10, 2015

Hi crafters, It’s Caz here and this Saturday I would like to share with you a fun Halloween card that I made.  I love Halloween and I would love to be over in the USA for Halloween as it’s not as widely celebrated in the UK and finding decorated houses over here is like finding witches’ teeth!

I am not sure why but when I decided to do a Halloween card I wanted to make one of the Karen Burniston Characters into a skeleton.  I chose Buster the Dog to be the skeleton and made up a silly poem to put on the front of the card.

Swallowed a Wellington!

Swallowed a Wellington!?

You know dogs and how they like to chew shoes?  Well it seems Buster was not content with swallowing shoes, he went for a Wellington Boot!  Or Wellies for short over here 🙂  I needed something to rhyme with Skeleton and there aren’t many!

I generated the poem with a computer and for added interest changed the colours of the writing and use a pair of scissors to distress the edges.  The BOO was made using the Alphabet Caps die, with Double-Sided Adhesive on the cardstock before die cutting, and then covered with Leaf Green Silk Microfine Glitter. I made the border decoration with the Ribbon & Jewels die and some Black peel off glitter dots.  I thought they looks a bit like eyes!

Now for the inside of the card…..

BUSTER DIED INSIDE

For the inside I found some patterned papers in my stash and cut the Lots of Pops die into the fold, sliding the die to the right to leave room for my gravestone on the left. The gravestone was made using a Katie Label die and I animated this onto an angled pop out platform made using the Spinner die from the Rectangle Pull card. The paper I used had the perfect Halloween tree and I copied that using the All Seasons Tree.  I added some googlie eyes for a spooky addition.  Even the grass from the Outdoor Edges got eyes too!

I die cut the shadow of Buster with Black card and lopped off his ears (sorry Buster!)  Then I used a white pencil to draw on the bones of Ol’ Buster the Skeleton. Buster is attached to the front of the Lots of Pops platform, along with more black grass. The All Seasons Tree is attached to one of the skinny side platforms. The other side platform was not needed for my card so I left it in the collapsed position. I love that feature of the Lots of Pops die – that many of the platforms are independent so you can choose to pop out just certain platforms for your scene.

Lots of inking, stamping and accent papers and my card was complete.

I do hope that you have enjoyed my card this Saturday and are looking forward to Halloween however you spend it.  I’ll be taking my boys out, visiting only houses that decorate and leaving those that do not want to partake alone.

Until the next time!
