Wednesday with Karen Aicken – Spiral Circle Pull Card Treat Holder

October 21, 2015

Good morning friends:

It’s Karen Aicken today with a card I made for a challenge, where we were to make cards with treats. Since Karen Burniston’s Spiral Circle Pull Card is one of my favourite dies, I figured out a way to include three mini chocolate bars inside a SCPC for Halloween!  Below is the card in the closed position:

and here it is opened up:

Here is how I made it:

1. Cut green card stock to 7-1/2 x 5-1/2″. Cut patterned paper to 7-1/4 x 5-1/4″ and adhere securely to green card stock. Score both layers at 3-5/8 and 4″.

Put SCPC on the left 3-5/8″ score line but keep the end of the cutting pad away from the notches. You want to die cut everything but the notches:

Put SCPC on right, 4″ score line and cut the notches only:

2. Using the Clock & Gears die, cut large circle from green card stock and adhere inside SCPC covering the patterned paper on the left circle.

Cut clock and  3 small gears  from black card stock

Cut patterned paper 1-1/2 x 3″ and cover Mini Chocolate Bars adhering the paper at the back with 6mm (1/4″) ECD Clear Double Sided Tape.   Tip: Use patterned paper not card stock.

3. Cut a 7 x 2-1/2″ piece of orange card stock, and die cut the clock hands from one end. Adhere the remaining orange card stock to 64 mm (2-1/2″) ECD Clear Double Sided Tape.

Die cut the letters to spell T I M E and T R E A T S, and cut the number 4 from the orange adhesive backed card stock. Colour the 4 with a black marker. Alternatively, cut the 4 from ECD Clear Double Sided Adhesive-backed black cardstock.

Die cut Spiral Circle Pull Card accessory circle from off-white card stock. Lightly stencil numbers from black clock with light grey ink and ink edges. Adhere letters and number, and adhere to inside over green circle.

4. Stack black clock face, 1 small gear, large clock hand, small clock hand and secure with purple mini-brad. Adjust time to your liking. Adhere to front of SCPC on outer edges only using liquid glue.

Cut green circle using the SCPC accessory circle die. Adhere green circle on the right side as shown so it doesn’t show when the card is closed. (touching 4″ score line)

Adhere wrapped candy along the 4″ score line.

Adhere the remaining 2 gears to the SCPC notches as shown, using liquid glue.

Close up and your card is ready for giving. Note: The gear-decorated tabs (notches) are more for decoration than to securely hold the card closed.

I used a clear bag as an envelope, as it will be hand delivered. Alternatively, you could create a Belly Band using a strip of card stock or patterned paper 9-1/4 x 1″ wrapping it around your closed card and securing at the back with a piece of ECD Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

I had so much fun making this Treat Pull Card – I hope you will give it a try as well!

    LOVE IT!!
Thank you for letting me see some possibilities.
I could make longer sleeves to hold lip balm or a roll on perfume for a birthday or any occasion card or a stocking stuffer card for Yule!
    Thanks again!!

So cute, love the covered chocolates on the inside of the card. That’s a great sentiment to go along with the Clock & Gears die.

Thank you Marjorie. I’ve had the paper stack for a couple of years. I believe I found it at Michaels … it has papers for all the different seasons.
